To tell you the truth—Lexi had seemed more than enthusiastic about marrying me.

At the time, anyway.

Now?

Now, she was acting like it had been a poor business decision.

Or like she’d taken a bite of something, and was left with a bad taste in her mouth.

Women had always confused me.

But Lexi Hunter had to be the most confusing of all.

“Up here,” I guided her to the steps that led to Gigi and Beau’s apartment.

Beau had moved to the side, letting Lexi go first.

“I know where to go,” she said crossly to me, and I chuckled. I walked behind her, staring at the most perfect ass I’d ever seen.

It was round, and each cheek fit awesomely into my hands every time she rode my dick.

Which luckily had been quite a few times.

I heard the door open, and Gigi’s voice say, “Lexi,” with a worried sigh.

We all filed inside—Beau’s hand pushing my shoulder as soon as he shut the door.

“What the fuck, man?” I said, stepping away from him.

I wasn’t sure I’d seen him this angry before.

“You’re asking me what the fuck?” he spat out as he moved toward me. “I’m asking you—” he said, shoving me in the center of my chest, “what the fuck?”

A pain shot through my neck—reminding me it was time for another pill.

Or two.

Immediately, Gigi maneuvered herself between us. “Stop, stop, stop,” she said with her back to me. “You promised me we’d talk sanely—like adults,” she pointed her finger in her fiancé’s face.

Beau’s eyes fell to her. “I lied.”

“Go, sit,” she said, then started pushing him toward the couch.

He listened to her, but his eyes stared at me. “I fucking told you to leave her alone, asshole.”

I’d expected him to be mad.

Beau had in fact warned me to stay away from Lexi.

And, I wanted to agree.

I knew I should agree.

I just couldn’t.

There was something about Lexi Hunter.

And that something won out over listening to my friend and teammate.
