I needed a stepping stool in order to reach it.

“Do you have any idea how much money I make?” he asked in such a quiet voice, I could barely hear.

I stood still, and answered, “Yeah, so what?”

“So what? So what?” he asked as he shook his head, and closed his eyes.

He opened his eyes and peered down at me. “So, I can fucking afford a cheap wedding on the strip, Lex.”

I rolled my eyes and felt my blood pressure begin to boil. “I never said you couldn’t afford it. I said,” poking my index finger into his chest, “I’ll pay for my half—of the cheap wedding on the strip.”

He looked at me in an angry, predatory way—and I immediately felt very, very sorry for each, and every one of his competitors.

His head cocked to the side. “No, you’re not.”

“Yes, I am.”

Oh, my gosh, I was seriously in danger of strangling the man I’d had a crush on for over a decade.

“Well, nice of you two to grace us with your presence,” I heard a deep voice say.

We both turned our heads to see Beau Moreau, captain of the men’s team staring directly at us through the gate.

He undid the latch and swung it open. “Upstairs to our place,” he said, his firm tone.

“We need to—” Trey started talking, but Beau cut him off right away.

“Upstairs, and not one more fucking word for the cameras. You hear me?” he asked, sounding extra mad, now.

Oh, right.

Cameras.

They were scattered all around the grounds.

Gigi and the owners had already warned me before I came.

Part of being on the Las Vegas Angels meant you also got an invitation to be on their biweekly reality show.

Well, it wasn’t so much of an invitation as it was mandatory.

Apparently, they taped the players at work and at play. Then decided what to cut and what to keep for the show.

And the players had no idea what would be aired until that evening.

I actually thought it was kind of funny that the men’s team had to be here, too.

Those guys made bank.

And a half.

The accommodations here were actually really nice.

For the women’s team.

But the men could afford to stay in their own huge houses if they had a choice.

The one thing they wouldn’t find in their houses was exposure.
