She rolled her eyes at her fiancé. “It’s just one more,” she whined and gave him a pouty face that made me laugh.

Beau stepped further into our apartment. “Geneviève, we have two boys and two dogs already. That’s plenty.”

Gigi gave me a look and shook her head. She gazed back at Beau. “Your house is huge! There’s lots of room for more.”

Beau tilted his head. “Kids or dogs?”

Gigi kissed the puppy one more time, then handed her back to me. She stood, and started speaking French to Beau.

Rather loudly.

Then he answered back—also in French.

Beau opened the door, and they continued their loud discussion on the way out.

Trey smiled at me and said, “It’s one of their lover’s quarrels. It happens frequently.”

Yikes.

It seemed like their voices got louder after they left.

“Who do you think will win?”

Trey grinned at me, and my heart felt a lot lighter. He’d been absolutely and totally absorbed with caring for the new doggie.

I crossed my fingers and hoped she might help him through this difficult time in his life.

“If I had to bet? I’d put my money on Gigi.”
