Nathan led her into the dark apartment. With a quiet command of “dim lighting,” the room brightened to a romantic glow. He never broke stride as he headed toward his bedroom.

Outside the bedroom door, he cupped her face. “I’m going to make love to you, and then I’m going to fuck you. Then we’ll see how the rest of the night goes.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah. Oh.”

His bedroom was dark and sparse. Decorated in nautical blue and gray, a huge bed was the centerpiece flanked by two end tables. The dresser was dotted with a few knick-knacks and photos she couldn’t make out. The far wall was one seamless floor-to-ceiling glass wall, oddly cohesive with the traditional pre-war architecture of the building, and beyond that was a stone balcony overlooking the park. A block to the south, the Metropolitan Museum of Art glowed like a palace from another era.

She felt the heat from Nathan’s body at her back as he stood behind her. He cupped her breast with one hand. With the other, he reached up to pull down the zipper of the slip dress. He did it with such agonizing slowness, she felt like she could hear each individual tooth come open until the pale green fabric fell gently to her feet. Her bra followed. She slid off her sandals and turned to face him in only a nude thong. Nathan stepped back and just stared. He looked at her like... like a man gazing upon beauty for the first time. His eyes traveled from her face to her breasts to the flat of her stomach, the curve of her hips, down her thighs to her painted pink toes. Emily stood still as a statue and let him look, reveled in it. On the journey back up her body, his gaze changed. His entire body shifted to that of a predator held in check, a lion waiting for the gazelle to wander juuuuuust a little further from the herd. Then he pounced. He snapped the delicate lace from her body and devoured her mouth in a searing kiss.

“You keep tearing them.”

“I don’t see that changing in the foreseeable future. I have a house account at La Perla. Buy a hundred pairs.”

Emily had never been jealous in her life. Never had reason to be, but the idea of Nathan shopping for lacy unmentionables with leggy supermodels gave her pause. Nathan sensed her unease.

“We’re going to have a long fucking talk, but now is not the time. I think we both know at this point that perceptions are not reality.”

Emily didn’t reply with words. She did something she had never in her life done, but it felt as natural as breathing. She reached out and palmed his erection, her eyes only leaving his when the sheer size filling her palm pulled her gaze. Nathan chuckled.

“We’ll get you good and ready. I want this to be the best night of your life.”

“It already is.”

With that green light, Nathan leaped into action. He swung her into his arms and dropped her unceremoniously on the bed. He pulled the tie from his collar and set it on the mattress with a wicked gleam in his eye. His suit jacket was somewhere on the living room floor. Monogrammed platinum cufflinks hit the carpet with a plunk. As each button opened, she stared at the chest slowly being revealed. He had a light smattering of chest hair and an assortment of scars. She wanted to explore him more, but as his hand went to his belt, his lips latched on to her breast, and she lost every sane thought in her head. Every stroke of his tongue, every pull with his teeth left her throbbing, aching to be complete.

“I want you inside me. So much.”

He kissed down her belly, then met her gaze with one that seemed to say, not yet. Then he winked. She yanked his hair in admonishment, but as his lips traveled down, her desire turned to need. Nathan licked her as if nothing had ever tasted so good, his precision only shaken by lust and urgency. He tongued her to a shattering orgasm then pushed two fingers into her and stretched her as she continued to quake.

“Emily, I’ve never had sex without a condom.”

“I’m on birth control. I got the implant when I moved to New York. I want you bare.”

If there were magic sex words, those four words were it. Nathan was above her in an instant. His cock poised at her entrance, his eyes on her.

“We’ll go slow.”

“Now. Please.”

Nathan pushed inside and she lost her breath. Jesus, he was big. He stopped after a few inches, allowing her to accommodate him. He stared at the ceiling, seeming to gather himself.

“Just do it. I’m ready. God, Nathan, I need you.”

That broke whatever restraint he was clinging to, and with one forceful thrust, he pushed fully into her. Her body gave way as he plunged to the hilt. Nathan stilled. He kissed away her tears as her body adjusted.

“You good?” He pinched her nipple and the combination of reassuring words and the arousing tweak caused her hips to tilt.

“So good.”

“That’s good.”

“Let me show you how good.” She squeezed her inner muscles. She may have had zero sexual experience, but she couldn’t be best friends with Caroline Fitzhugh and not learn a thing or two about satisfying a man. Nathan groaned. “Gotta move, Sunshine.” He started in long slow strokes. Every withdrawal left her feeling hollow, every thrust complete. She grabbed his ass to return him to her, her body building to a zenith.

“Jesus, Emily, I’m not gonna last. I need you with me. Come with me.”

Her garbled shout was her only response as her body blew every circuit. Her inner walls contracted violently, and Nathan’s groan echoed off the walls as he emptied himself inside her.
