Bear growled and acted like he was going to come around me and grab her. I blocked him. I wasn’t sure if he was too pissed not to grab her. He’d never intentionally hurt her, but he might bruise her if he got a hold of her. April squealed and then ran off down the hall.

“Calm down, Bear. She’s gone. Don’t let her bullshit piss you off that much. Let’s grab a drink then head to the house,” I told him as I pushed him toward the common room. He was reluctant to move, but he finally did. I couldn’t let him go home this pissed. As we sat down and the other guys sat down with us, Jake handed us each a beer.

“If I did hit women, she’d have been one I would have. Why do they have to talk that shit? I mean, when they all come here, we’re blunt with them. We tell them what we want and what they can and can’t expect out of us. Being someone's old lady is top of the ain’t gonna happen list.”

“I know, but still, most of them seem to want it or maybe they hope it’ll happen anyway. April has been after me since the other day. I had no idea she felt like this until now. It explains why she snuck into my room the other day.”

“She did what?” he roared. Shit, I’d thought he would have heard about it by now—if not from one of the guys, from his daughter. I quickly explained to him what had happened.

“Jesus, if I didn’t think the single brothers would revolt, I’d say we kick all the bunnies out. Too bad Tarin didn’t puke on her.”

I laughed. “Yeah, Tarin was mortified when Tate cleaned it up. She said she was going to keep the crazy stuff to a minimum. With all the hormones flowing through her body, I don’t know how easy that’s going to be. Is Tarin still at your house making wedding plans with Ilara?”

“No, she went home an hour ago. Said she was tired and was going to take a shower and rest. They’ve got a lot done. I’m loving the idea of this double wedding. Of course, when I told Bull, he teased me that I had to copy him again, first the twins and now the wedding. I might have to beat his ass if I have a son and daughter. He'll say I copied that too.”

“No shit, though it is funny to hear you guys go at it.”

We chatted as we took our time finishing our beers. As soon as we were done, we got up and told the other guys we’d see them later. I walked him to his house and then kept going to ours. The lights were out, so I made sure to take my boots off downstairs and tiptoe upstairs. She must be asleep. When I got into our bedroom, I flipped on the nightlight by the door. I was taken by surprise. She wasn’t in the bed.

Had I missed her? Was she on the couch downstairs? I hurried back down the stairs and into the living room. I turned on the light and froze. The coffee table was overturned and the lamp on the side table was broken on the floor. I ran through the house, yelling her name. She was nowhere to be found. I looked in the garage, but her car was still there. I got out my phone, and I dialed Bear.

“What’s up, miss me already?” he joked.

“Bear, get over here, Tarin is gone, and it looks like there was a fight in the living room!” I practically screamed.

“Fuck! I’ll be right there. Call Bull and have him meet us there.” He hung up. I shook as I called Bull. When he answered, I told him the same thing I told Bear. He swore and promised he’d be there in five minutes. As I waited, I paced the room. I heard boots pounding up the front steps and then the front door came flying open. Bear ran inside, looking like he was going to lose his shit.

He looked around the living room at the mess. “What the fuck? How did this happen? Who? No one can get in the damn compound, Outlaw.”

“I know. I checked the whole house. She’s not here and her car is still in the garage. She wouldn’t go to any of the other’s houses, not this late. If she was hurt, she’d have called me or you. Son of a bitch, I need to check the damn cameras.” As I ran to the door, it opened again and in came Bull. He had Tank and Payne with him.

“Show us,” is all Bull said. I pointed them into the living room. They walked around, looking at the mess. I saw Payne crouch down by the coffee table. He wiped at something then wiped his fingers on his pants.

“What is that, Payne?” I asked him.

He grimaced before he stood up. He walked over to me. “Don’t lose your shit. It looks like there’s a little bit of blood on the corner of the table.” I felt sick. Bear moaned. “Whoa, don’t do that. It’s not much. Where were you headed when we came in?”

“To my computers at the clubhouse. I wanted to check the cameras to see if they might have caught something.”

“Let’s go then. We’ll text the rest of the guys to meet us there,” Bull said.

Bear and I followed them out of the house. I was moving on autopilot as we all jogged to the clubhouse. When we came through the door, Slash, Joker, and Jake were in the common room.

“What’s going on?” Slash asked.

“Text the rest of the guys and the prospects. Tell them we need their asses here on the double. Tarin is missing. Their living room looks like there was a fight,” Bull barked.

I saw shock come over their faces, then they had out their phones. Bear, Bull, and Payne followed me to my room. Inside, I got down to pulling up the tapes. I went back just over an hour, since Bear said she’d left his house then. We didn’t have cameras all over the inside of the compound. We had them in the key areas of the clubhouse, on the gate and then outside along the walls.

I was looking at the ones showing the gate first. I was about to switch, when I saw a familiar car pull up and wait for the gate to open from the inside. I looked at Bear. He was growling under his breath. It was April’s car. The time stamp showed it was about ten minutes after she left the clubhouse and maybe fifteen minutes before I went to the house.

“Son of a bitch! Do you think she went after her?” Bear asked me.

Bull gave us a puzzled look. “Why would April do something to Tarin?”

Bear quickly explained what had happened earlier then Payne told him about the other day.

“Shit! Okay, see what else you can see, Outlaw. While you look, I’ll fill the rest of the guys in on what’s happening and I’ll call Smoke to see if he can help by tapping into the cameras around Hunters Creek,” Bull said.
