“I’ve never fucked a pregnant chick before. I wonder if it’ll feel the same. Are you as tight as I imagine? I bet that biker you’ve been fucking really tears that pussy up. I can’t wait to get a piece of that. In fact, why don’t we see what you taste like? That might hold me over until we can have you. May said we can’t until after you sign. I don’t know why, but she’s the boss. This will be between you and me.” He cupped himself as he said it. I saw he had an erection. He was turned on at the thought of forcing me to have sex with him. I steeled myself. I had my knife tucked up my sleeve.
I fought to stay still as he approached the bed with a leer on his ugly face. As he bent down to pull on my feet—I assume to make me lie flat—I reared up and sank the knife into the back of his neck. I saw his mouth open, but nothing came out. He fell face-first onto the mattress beside me. I watched as life faded out of his eyes. I figured I’d severed his spinal cord with where I’d stabbed him.
I hadn’t done it with that in mind, but recalling anatomy, I knew that was what had most likely happened. I rolled off the other side of the bed and ran over to the door. I listened and heard nothing. Easing out of the door, I pulled it shut behind me, then tiptoed over to the stairs. I could hear two female voices downstairs and one male.
I crept down them, stopping every step or two to listen. I was hoping I’d get to the door and outside without them even knowing I’d done it. Where I’d go once I got there, I’d decide then. Right now, the plan was to get out of the house.
I made it to the bottom of the stairs and had the front door almost open when Gorilla One came out of what I assumed was the kitchen. He froze when he saw me. I ripped the door open and ran. His hollers followed me down the front steps and across the yard. I saw an old barn and ran for it. I could hear footsteps pounding the ground behind me. I tried to run faster. Heavy breathing and swearing told me he was getting closer.
I almost made it when he scooped me up from behind and had my struggling body in his arms. I fought him, kicking and beating on any part of him I could reach. He shook me.
“Stop it, bitch, before I beat you unconscious. How the hell did you get out of your room? Where’s Mikey?” I kept silent. He shook me again. “I asked you a question!”
“He’s dead. Just like you will be if you don’t let me go,” I told him quietly. Why did I have so much courage to tell him that? Because I’d caught a glimpse of what he hadn’t. In the woods off to my left, I saw a brief flash of a face. A face I knew very well. It was Demon. If he was here, then so was Ajax and many of the others. I wanted to sag with relief.
My answer pissed off my captor. He threw me to the ground. I turned so I wouldn’t fall on my stomach. The fall knocked the wind out of me. As I gasped to catch my breath, he got on top of me and punched me in the face. Pain shot through my jaw. The crack of a gun rang out and he fell to the ground partially on top of me. I frantically pushed at him. Suddenly, I was free of his oppressive weight. Demon reached down and pulled me to my feet.
“Are you okay, Jess?”
“I’m fine. We need to get May and Melody. They’re in the house.”
“Don’t worry, the others are rounding them up. I assume the second guy is in there too.”
“Yeah, he is, but he won’t be causing any trouble.” Demon gave me a puzzled look as we walked toward the house. “He’s dead.”
“Dead? How did he die?”
“I stabbed him in the neck. I think I severed his spinal cord.” He stopped walking and looked down at me in wonder. Before he could say or ask anything else, a scream rang out. From around the side of the house came a crazed looking Melody. She stabbed Demon in the arm causing him to loosen his grip on his gun. It fell to the ground.
She then turned toward me and came at me. She was so pissed she didn’t take time to pull the knife she’d stabbed Demon with out of his arm. I stood my ground. When she got within striking distance, I swung my arm up. It was a low upward swing, with my knife firmly planted in my fist. It sank into her stomach like butter. She gasped as I looked at her dispassionately.
“I hope you rot in hell, Melody, and that you get what you deserve,” I told her as she sank to her knees. A thunder of footsteps was heard running through the house and out the door. Ajax and the other guys were now standing on the porch, staring at the scene in front of them.
Demon was holding his bleeding arm. I had a bloody knife in my hand and Melody was on her knees on the ground, holding her stomach as bright red blood pumped out between her fingers. I saw they had May tied up. She was staring with her mouth open. A scream rang out.
“Not my daughter! Please not her.” She sobbed as she looked at Melody. A small piece of me briefly thought how great it would be if she had been like that about me. Ajax ran down the steps and across the yard to me. He plucked the knife out of my hand and hugged me tight to his chest. I sagged into his warmth. He was kissing me all over my face as his hands ran all over me, checking for injuries, I think. Two of the others had come over to help Demon. I pulled away from Ajax.
“Is he okay?” I asked anxiously. Slash nodded.
“He’ll be fine. A few stitches and maybe some blood, but he’ll be fine. We’ll call ahead and have doc there to check him out. Which you know he’ll love.” Demon shot him a glare. I couldn’t help but giggle. Demon glanced at Ajax.
“The one inside, she killed. Severed his spinal cord she said.” Ajax gave me a stunned look.
“You did that?”
“Yes, I did. No way was I going to go down without a fight. He was going to ‘taste’ me, hoping it would help him wait until after I signed the paperwork. Then he and his buddy over there were going to rape me and then kill me.” Ajax growled and let go of me to go over to Gorilla One. He was still curled up on the ground, moaning and crying about his wound. Ajax grabbed him by the hair and jerked his head up.
“You thought you and your buddy would rape and kill my woman? It looks like she had other ideas. Be happy she did this, otherwise I’d have tortured you for a long damn time. As it is, I’d say you have maybe half an hour tops before you die. I hope the fires of hell burn you for all of eternity.” He spit on him as he dropped him back to the ground.
As two of them gathered up a sobbing and screaming May, the others carried the gut-stabbed one into the house as well as Melody’s almost dead body. I must have nicked something major, because she had already mostly bled out while we talked. I head two gunshots from inside. When they came back out, I didn’t see Slash.
“He’s fixing something, baby. He’ll be here soon. Let’s get you in the van and we can head home.” He walked me over to it. Tate was behind the wheel and a screaming May was in the back. I looked at him. No way was I going to listen to her yell all the way home. He smiled as he opened the side door. May looked at him in shock as he pulled a syringe out of his pocket and injected her with it. In a matter of minutes, she was out like a light. I got in the front seat. By this time, Slash had joined us.
As we rode away, I looked back. The place looked so benign. No one would ever think that what had happened here did so in such a serene place. We were a mile or so down the road when a huge explosion sounded. I saw flames through the trees. I looked at Tate. He grinned.
“Got to love when Slash plays with explosives.” I laughed. Hopefully no one would ever find enough to identify the bodies. I wondered briefly what we would do with May. Then I closed my eyes. I was tired. A nap sounded like a good idea right now.
