Chapter 2: Ajax
I stomped down the stairs to my bike. I was fucking pissed. I’d finally gotten Jessica a little comfortable with me tonight. She’d danced with me and even sat with the others and carried on a conversation. I knew she was super shy, and she didn’t seem to notice when a guy was into her. I couldn’t imagine how she couldn’t. She was drop-dead beautiful. She was tiny, with long, medium-brown hair that hung down her shoulders, and her eyes were a rich golden brown. I could get lost in her eyes. They were set in a perfect, delicate face. Her lips were full and the prettiest pink I’d ever seen. I wanted to kiss her until we both couldn’t breathe.
Her cheekbones were high and set off by her tiny nose. Everything about her called to me and made me want to protect her. It had from the first moment I saw her a few weeks ago. I’d been biding my time to make a move, letting her get used to me. Then I’d seen Razor and Torch making a move on her, and I knew I had to stake a claim. They wouldn’t be the only ones to want her.
After telling them to back the hell off, I’d stuck to her to be sure no one else would approach her. It had been heaven when I got her in my arms on that dance floor. Only I had to stop before she felt how excited holding her was making me. My cock had been half-hard just looking at her; holding her had me at full-mast.
Everything had been going great until that bitch, Daisy, had shown up. Her mouthing off to Jessica had ended our night. I saw her face when Daisy had verbally attacked her. The look of insecurity she often wore came back full force. She shrank back in herself. I tried to hold on to her while arguing with Daisy, but Jessica got away.
Then the bitch got in my way when I tried to run after Jessica. God, I hated the fact I ever fucked that slut. Sure, we’d hooked up. Most of the guys had been with her at one time or another, but for some reason, she thought she had ownership over us. She’d had my cock, nothing else. I knew Jessica would have my heart. Even if we barely knew each other, I knew I’d found my woman. I just needed time to get her to realize it and to relax with me.
Well, that plan was shot to hell and back. After tonight, I’d be lucky if she ever spoke to me again. I wasn’t sure if she was a virgin or not, but Jessica was innocent. She didn’t seem to understand a man wanting her, which I thanked God for when the men coming into the bakery showed their interest and flirted with her. I wanted to kill all of them. However, I wanted her to notice when I did it.
I roared out of her parking lot and headed out for a ride. I needed to calm down before I went back to the compound. Otherwise, I might just kill Daisy. I rode around for an hour before I headed back to the club.
The party was in full swing when I pulled in. I could see some of my brothers hooking up with various women. None of my brothers with wives were visible, just those from both clubs who were single. I swung off my bike and headed inside. I was going to go to my room. The party no longer held any interest for me with Jessica gone.
As I entered the clubhouse, there were more people having sex. I ignored them as I passed by. I’d almost made it to my room when a hand on my arm had me swinging around. There stood Daisy. She looked worse for wear. Obviously, she’d been fucking some of the other guys while I’d been gone. She gave me what I knew she thought was a sexy look.
“Hey, Ajax, why’d you run off earlier? I’ve been looking for you. Let’s have some fun. I’ve missed you,” she purred. I shook off her hand and gave her a look of pure disgust.
“Don’t fucking touch me, Daisy. I can see you’ve been waiting for me. How many of the others have you fucked while I was gone? Not that it matters. I don’t want anything from you. Not now and not ever again. I’m no longer available,” I told her coldly. She gave me a stunned look.
“You know I only want you, Ajax. What do you mean you’re not available? If you would just let the others know I’m yours, then I wouldn’t have to be with any of them.”
“I mean that I have an old lady. The woman you were mouthing off to earlier is my woman. I don’t ever want to see you get in her face again. As for telling the others you’re mine, no fucking way would I do that! None of us are going to take a bunny as an old lady, not after you’ve been with all our brothers and then some. We don’t want a slut for a wife.”
She gasped and then glared at me. “You can’t be serious. You want that mouse? She’ll never satisfy a man like you. You need someone adventurous in bed. You’ll see. You’ll be back to me in no time.” I shook my head in disgust and unlocked my door.
I looked back at her as I stepped inside. “No, I won’t. Jessica is all I need or want. She’ll more than satisfy my every need. Now get lost.” I closed the door in her face.
After a quick shower, I laid down and tried to fall asleep. It took forever as I kept thinking about Jessica and how I was going to regain the ground I’d lost with her. Tomorrow was Sunday, and the bakery was closed. That meant I wouldn’t see her until Monday. A part of me wanted to go over to her place and insist she see me later today, but I knew that wouldn’t be the best move. As hard as it would be, I’d wait until Monday.
??????
Monday morning, I pulled into the bakery just a little after seven. I knew Jessica was already there and working. Today, Alex, one of the prospects, was on guard duty with me. I saw he was already sitting out front. I parked and ambled up to him. He gave me a chin lift.
“Any problems?” I asked him. He shook his head.
“Naw. It’s been busy, but no problems. I thought I would sit out here and watch for anyone suspicious going inside. Or do you want me inside?”
“No, you can stay out here. Keep your eyes peeled. I’ll be inside with them.” I clapped him on the shoulder as I entered. The place was bustling with people even though it was early. I had noticed there was a steady morning rush before work. People stopped to get their coffee and sugar fix before they started their day.
I watched as Trudie waited on customers at the counter. I didn’t see Jessica, which meant she was in the back. I was about to head back there when the door chimed and in walked one of the regulars. I tensed up.
I’d noticed he seemed to be in here every day and was always watching Jessica. He made a point to talk to her. She was nice and spoke back like she did everyone else. However, the way he looked at her put me on alert. I didn’t know his name, but I was going to find out. I didn’t want some other guy moving in on her before I could convince her to see me.
As I turned back to the counter, I saw Jessica coming out, carrying a tray of pastries. She stumbled to a stop when she saw me. She averted her eyes and then continued over to the display case. She started to quickly put the pastries inside. Shit, she wasn’t even looking at me. She was still upset about Saturday night. I hurried to intercept her as she went back toward the kitchen when she was finished stocking the display. I gently grabbed her arm as she went to pass me.
“Jessica, babe, are you alright? I’m sorry about that shit Saturday night. I wish you would have let me in to explain.” She glanced at me and then away. She tugged on her arm, but I didn’t let go.
“I’m fine, Ajax. There’s nothing for you to apologize for. I’m the one who’s sorry. I didn’t mean to cause trouble between you and that woman. I hope she didn’t stay mad at you.”
My mouth fell open. “Baby, you have nothing to apologize for. Daisy and I aren’t together. She’s nothing to me. I couldn’t care less if she’s mad at me or not.”
She shot me a funny look. “She’s nothing to you? I guess women are like that for you. Whatever. I need to get to work. I have something in the oven. I need to get it out before it burns.” She jerked her arm free and walked off. I stood there stunned at her remark. What the hell did she mean by I guess women are like that for you? Did she think I saw her that way? I went after her.
She was pulling pans out of the oven. I waited until she set them down, then I marched over to her and pulled her around and into my arms. She stiffened and tried to pull away. I didn’t let her.
