I jumped up and gave them both a half man hug as I headed out the door. I needed to figure out where she was on the compound. After fifteen minutes of searching, it was clear she was gone. I looked all over the inside and then out back. It wasn’t until I came around the front that I noticed her car was gone.

How in the hell had she done that? The car had been here for days but why weren’t the keys in her purse? I rushed back inside and to my room. I grabbed her purse and headed out to my bike. I needed to go talk to her. She had been at her place for over an hour. She probably had built this up into a mountain by now.

The drive to town took longer than usual, or at least it seemed that way. When I pulled into the parking area near her apartment, I didn’t see her car. My heart sank. I still got off my bike and went to check. Letting myself inside with my key, I didn’t see anything out of place. It looked the same as it did when we’d left earlier. I ran back to my bike. I needed to get Outlaw to look for her. She had to be somewhere close. I called him on the Bluetooth in my helmet as I started back.

“Hey, Ajax, what’s up? I thought you were with Jessica.”

“That’s why I’m calling, Outlaw. We had an argument. She left. I thought she was going to her apartment, but no one has been here since this morning. She left her phone in my room. Can you track her any other way?” I held my breath hoping he could.

“Let me see if I can find her on the cameras we have in town and those I can hack. Are you on your way back here?”

“Yeah, I’ll be there in ten.”

“Okay, let me see if I can find anything. Bye.” He hung up. I groaned as I rode. What a fuckup. Daisy, me, and Jessica, what a total mess. I needed to get to the bottom of why Jessica was so insecure all the time. Had someone hurt her in the past? She’d been a virgin but that didn’t mean she hadn’t dated. Whatever it was, it had played a number on her.

When I pulled into the compound, several guys, including Bull, were outside waiting for me. I guess Outlaw told them what was happening, not that I was going to hide it. I jumped off my bike and headed for the door. Bull squeezed my shoulder.

“Don’t worry, he’ll find her. She’s probably parked somewhere or maybe driving around. Let’s go see what he can find.” I knew he was trying to make me feel better, but it wasn’t working. I went straight to Outlaw’s room. He kept his computers and monitors there.

Bull came in with me, but the rest stayed outside. Outlaw was busy typing away with a frown on his face. I waited impatiently to see what he found. After an agonizing ten minutes, he looked up at me. I knew from the look on his face, I wasn’t going to like it.

“Okay. Let me tell you what I found. I picked her up on some cameras around town. She went straight through and got on the highway. That’s where it gets sketchy. There aren’t a lot of cameras there unless she pulls off at an exit. I’ve got an alert set for any sightings of her or her vehicle within a hundred and fifty miles of here. I doubt she’d go farther than that tonight. We just need to wait to have one of those triggers. As soon as it does, I can give you a better idea where to look.”

I stood up and swore as I resisted punching the wall. “Goddamn it! This is my fault. I should have made her talk to me rather than getting pissed and telling her I was staying here.” I had remembered what I said on the ride back from town. I had cringed at the remark to not expect me home when she told me I could probably catch Daisy. There was only one way she would have taken it.

“Calm down. There’s nothing we can do until Outlaw gets us more information. Why don’t you come out and have a drink with me? It’ll help you relax,” Bull said. I didn’t want to have a drink. I wanted to go get my old lady, but I knew he wouldn’t let me go. I went with him to the bar.

The guys still there gathered around to see what had happened. Bull told them since I could hardly speak. A huge knot was in my throat and belly. What if she wouldn’t come back? I tried to push that horrible thought away. As time passed without a word, I became more and more despondent. I didn’t drink much because I had to stay sober in case Outlaw found her.

I’d been planted at that bar for two hours when he came running out, looking excited. He was waving a piece of paper. I jumped up and rushed over to him.

“Did you find her?”

“Yea, I did. She’s in Georgia at this truck stop. Just over the Tennessee and Georgia border.”

“A truck stop? Is she gassing up?”

“No, from the looks of it, she’s planning to sleep there all night. I got a shot showing her in her car in the back lot wrapped in a blanket. You said she left her purse, right?” I nodded. “Then she wouldn’t have any money to rent a room. She’s picked the only option for her other than coming back.”

The thought of her sleeping in her car at a truck stop where anyone could snatch her and do God knows what to her, made me crazy.

“Thanks, brother. I’m out of here.” I headed for the door. Bull came up on my left.

“You shouldn’t go alone. At least take someone with you.” I shrugged and then looked at my brothers. I pointed to Joker. He nodded. Out the door we went with the others shouting good luck.

I hopped on my bike, and he got on his. We peeled out of the parking lot and got on the road to Georgia. When I got a hold of her and made sure she was alright, I was going to tan that ass. She should have never done something like that. She could be robbed, raped, or even killed. I seethed the whole ride there.
