Chapter 7: Jessica

The next week flew by. I was walking around on cloud nine. Ajax loved me which was incredible to think. He was with me almost constantly. If he wasn’t guarding me at the bakery, he was with me at my apartment. At night, he would take me to paradise with the way he made love to me. No matter what he did, I loved it. I was gaining confidence in things he’d taught me. I wanted to be sure I was the best lover I could be for him.

The only sad thing this week was when he told me about Officer Talbot. I couldn’t help but feel sad for him. He really had been trying to do something good, he just went about it all wrong. He didn’t understand that there was no need for me to be rescued. None of the Warriors would do what had been done to his sister. I sent up a prayer that he’d get better soon.

I was glad to have today off. Somehow, the club had found someone else to work at the bakery in a matter of days. Her name was Cleo. She was a woman around Trudie’s age. In fact, they knew each other and Trudie had vouched for her. Not only could she work the counter, but she had baking experience. She’d worked Thursday and Friday and was helping Trudie today, so I could go to the barbeque at the club. I’d baked extra items last night, so they wouldn’t have it all falling on their shoulders today. Ajax had just shaken his head and kept me company while I did it.

I hugged my arms tighter around him. We were riding on his bike to the compound. He’d taken me on a ride first around town and I absolutely loved it. With it being fall, the trees were turning. The air had been cooler than the summer high in the nineties. The feel of the wind on my face was amazing and made me feel so free. It could be a bit scary when we’d go into a sharp turn and we had to lean so far over that you felt like you were going to fall to the pavement, but Ajax was such a pro that I had nothing to worry about. I sighed as we pulled through the gate of the compound. Not because I didn’t want to be here, but because the ride was over.

I jumped off his bike so he could back into his spot. After taking off our helmets, he took my hand and walked me inside the clubhouse. It looked like we were still early enough. I had told him I wanted to get here in time to help the other ladies with fixing up things.

Inside, the guys were gathered around the bar, tables, and pool tables chatting. They all hollered out greetings. I waved as Ajax nodded. He walked me to the kitchen where the women were gathered cooking. He gave me a big kiss before leaving. The ladies had a great time oohing and teasing me. He just winked. Damn him!

“So, it looks like things are going well with you two,” Jocelyn said with a smile.

“It is. I can’t believe it.”

“Why not?” Devyn asked.

“That a guy like him would want me.”

“Damn it, Jess, what guy wouldn’t want to be with you? I don’t know how you can be so oblivious to how beautiful you are,” Madisen said, acting incensed.

“I’m sorry, Mad, but I don’t see it. Guys have never been all into me. I know what I look like. I can’t see why you say I’m beautiful.”

“Sweetheart, you are. Not sure why no one has told you that before, but they were idiots. Madisen has told me how guys at the bakery look at you. It drives Ajax crazy,” Jocelyn said with a laugh.

Though I didn’t see what they did, I loved the fact Ajax was jealous, if that was true. It made me feel warm inside that he’d want me so much to be that way—as long as it never got to be too much.

“Okay, I’ll concede to your judgment. Now, tell me what I can do to help. I hope you didn’t do it all without me. I hate to come to something like this empty-handed.”

“Don’t worry, we haven’t. The only thing we did yesterday was some desserts and the potato salad. We still need to make pasta salad, baked beans, the corn on the cob and dips. Tell us what you want to do, and we’ll let you do it,” Devyn said.

“Does anyone like street corn? And I’d love to work on the baked beans.”

“Oh, I love street corn. I know the guys will too. Yeah, you do that and have at the beans,” Madisen said excitedly. With the labor divided, we settled down to work. The conversation flowed and we had fun and laughed a lot. I hoped the guys were having as much fun as we were.

We were chatting about something Rebel had done that had Madisen ready to scream. It was in the bedroom. The conversation had turned naughtier. I blushed, wondering if Ajax would like that. They weren’t giving too many details, but still it was different to hear women talk about things like this. Madisen looked at me.

“Have you and that stud of yours gone all the way yet?” I blushed more. All three were looking at me expectantly with grins on their faces.

“Umm… yeah we have,” was all I could say.

“It’s about damn time! Girl, you needed to give up that v-card,” Madisen said, I felt mortified that she knew I had been a virgin at twenty-two. Devyn reached over and patted my arm.

“Don’t mind Mad, she’s outrageous. There’s nothing wrong with being a virgin. I was when I met Ace. Just know if you ever want to talk about anything, you can come to us.”

“She’s right. There’s nothing wrong with being one. Heck, other than Devyn’s dad, Bull is the only other person I’ve been with. And can I say, these bikers know how to rock a woman’s world,” Jocelyn said laughing. I had to laugh. Her remark helped to relax the moment.

“True. Ajax does rock my world. I’m glad he was my first.”

“Babe, I think it’s safe to say he’ll be your first and last. Those looks he gives you tell the tale. And the fact he claimed you in church as well,” Madisen said, wiggling her eyebrows.

“Claimed me? What are you talking about?”

She huffed. “Damn alpha Neanderthals! He didn’t even tell you? Last week, he claimed you in church. When one of the guys finds the woman he wants to claim, he puts it before the other members, so they can vote on it. Claiming someone is more real in the MC world than marriage in the regular world,” she explained.

I stood there stunned. He’d claimed me? Essentially married me? And he hadn’t told me. A little burn of anger ignited in my gut. Not because I didn’t want to be claimed, but it would have been nice to have been asked.
