“I want to know what you’re doing hanging with that biker. I’ve asked you a hundred times to go out with me and you always say no. Then I see you all cozy with him! Is that what you’re into, Jocelyn? You like it rough and dirty. I can do that.” Before I could respond, he jerked me into his arms and slammed his mouth down on mine. I struggled to get loose and when that didn’t happen, I bit his lip and stomped on his foot.
He jerked back, swearing. “Bitch! You dare to bite me!” I could see the anger in his eyes. He was scaring me a little. Before he could do anything else, I heard the roar of a motorcycle. I looked up and saw Bull pull into the parking lot. He headed straight for us. Jonathan backed off and hurried to his car. He peeled out of the parking lot as Bull came to a stop beside me. He turned off his bike and swung off it.
“What happened, Jocelyn? You look scared. Did he do something?” He gestured to where Jonathan’s car had been.
I swallowed. “It’s fine, Bull. It was nothing. What are you doing here?”
He narrowed his eyes, but thankfully he didn’t push. “I wanted to continue our conversation from earlier. I could tell your colleague was listening in on us. I wanted to see if you would go out to dinner. I know it’s kind of late to ask for tonight, but any night would be fine.”
I knew I needed to tell him no. Nothing could come from me going out with Bull. He wasn’t a guy looking for long-term and I wasn’t looking to be a booty call. Though a part of me, an enormous part, wanted to accept. He was the only guy I could recall making me feel an attraction to him. As I hesitated, he touched my cheek.
“Jocelyn, there are no expectations here. Just an offer to go to dinner. It would be nice to sit down and have a conversation with someone about something other than the club. I hope you know. You have nothing to fear from me.” I could see the sincerity in his eyes. As I held his gaze, I made my decision. I only hoped I didn’t regret it.
“I’d love to go to dinner with you, Bull. I have to work late most days this week, but if you don’t have plans, what about Friday night? I never usually stay late on Fridays.”
He smiled. “That’s perfect. I’ll pick you up at six. Here, give me your phone. I’ll give you my number in case you need to call.” I handed him my phone. In a matter of moments, he had entered his number. After he handed it back, he walked me the rest of the way to my car. He surprised me by opening the door and helping me inside. Once I was settled, he paused. “See you, Friday. Drive safe.”
As I told him goodbye, he walked away and then looked back. “Oh, and Jocelyn, if your colleague gives you any more trouble, and I mean any, call me.” I gaped at him as he sauntered over and got on his bike. He roared out of the parking lot. I sat there for a minute in a daze. I looked down at my phone. It showed I’d sent a text. It was sent to Bull’s number. I laughed. I guess that was one way to get my number. I shook my head and then headed home. Now, I just had four days to worry about going out on a date in forever. What had I done?
