“Which is four whole days away. Do what you need to do and trust us to take care of some things too.”
“You guys did manage to decorate this place beautifully and set up the best proposal possible.” Sophie agrees. “I suppose I can allow you to make plenty of choices.”
“And we’ll make sure we agree with each other. We’re not terrible at cooperation.” I wink.
With that, she grabs an armful of magazines and goes to her room. Of course, as we go further and further, and then look at the list, my promise of compromise and reasoning is close to an end.
Gunner doesn’t want Holden’s mom showing up since she’s judgmental. Holden doesn’t want any of Gunner’s exes showing and we’re all divided between having Matthew and Bella show. The only thing we’ve managed to agree on is that no one from work other than us and Miles.
When I get in bed, my mind is racing. I stare at my ceiling and shake my head. Weddings are always beautiful and look so easy from the outside. Maybe I should talk to Matthew about what he and Bella did to get things finished and get things moved forward in a better way.
But we have less than six weeks. Honestly, we have about four to get most of these things solidified. I don’t want to pile onto Sophie. I want to help as much as I can, but we all have full-time jobs, and I have a feeling that Sophie’s right about things popping up when we need them the least.
We’ll need to schedule the cake tasting – something we all need to go to – on a Sunday, if that’s possible, making it convenient for all of us to get there. Which means trusting Gunner to do something immediately and not putting it off because he’d rather do something else.
And we’d all rather do Sophie.
Just before I go to sleep, I feel my bed move and turn to see Sophie. She has on one of Roman’s shirts so I’m sure he got some attention from her, but she crawls into bed with me and snuggles close.
I wrap my arm around her and kiss her forehead. “It’s okay, sweetheart.”
“Tell me more logical things?”
“Are you overthinking in bed all by yourself?”
“Yes. Not even sex helped.” She rubs my chest. “But I’m willing to give it another try for you.”
I chuckle and kiss her softly. “Let’s call it stress relief.”
SOPHIE
Even with all the wedding planning taking place, I like being able to rely on my men for stress relief. Nick started us using that to talk about it, but I like it. It’s still fun, and it’s keeping our passion alive, but by Saturday, having taken multiple work breaks with Holden and Roman, since he decided to work from home one day, and spending the night with Gunner and Nick until my brain turned off each time, I still feel the weight of every choice on my shoulder.
The guys have started leaving me loving and silly notes when they give me things to look over. I know they’re working so hard to keep me from being upset, but I just can’t shake it.
I adjust in Roman’s arms and he grunts, trying to reclaim me even as I reach for my phone. Five minutes until my alarm goes off to head to my mom’s.
“Who says you’re allowed to leave.” He demands.
“My schedule.” I sigh. “It’s not by choice.”
He swats my bottom. “I’m going to remind you every day how much I appreciate you.”
“By spanking me?”
“Yes.” He chuckles against the back of my shoulder. “Among other ways.”
“I’m sorry for yelling at you about your grandma. I like her, I just hate the idea of people judging. I can’t believe I’ve agreed to Bella and Matthew coming after everything at their wedding. And then inviting some close college friends.”
“The invitations go out today. You pulled five people – used all your vetoes.”
“Don’t remind me” I rub his hip. “Damn Gunner and his exes.”
Roman chuckles and I feel it seep through my body and loosen my muscles. He rubs over my hip and starts to stroke just above my pussy. I groan and shake my head. “I have to leave in five minutes.”
“I can work with that.” He nibbles my throat. “I bet I can make you come in three.”
“Roman.” I pant. “Please.”
