“Dana, you have no idea how joyful you make me every single day,” Rux whispered into her belly. “I can’t believe this. This is what I’ve always wanted, and I get to have it with a goddess.”

Dana breathed in deeply, and for a moment, anything and everything she had ever worried about utterly vanished. The pain of moving around as a child, the time she had lost with her father in the garage, and the constant sensation of being an outcast, flew out the window of her mind.

She held her husband close and wanted him to know they were embarking on a whole new path, carving out their universe to thrive in.

Dana pulled him away from her stomach and knelt down with him. She touched his cheeks, rubbing the tears away with her thumbs. They looked into each other's eyes, radiant ocean blue gazing at flaming forest-green, with a certainty that very few people would ever feel in their lifetime.

“I love you beyond words,” Dana murmured. “I hope you know that. This is a chance for both of us to start new and to forget about any of the pain of the past.”

Rux once again gave her a glimpse of heaven in his smile, then took her in his arms for a long embrace.

The sun went down that night and rested. The moon rose and offered a guiding light, a chance for the new lovers to forge something entirely fresh and breathtakingly right.
