I pulled up the quilt to cover us to keep anyone who walked in the room from seeing our naked bodies. Well, mainly hers, I thought with a smile. Closing my eyes, I finally let myself fall asleep.
Chapter Twenty-One: Traitor
Amora
Strong arms enveloped me as a sense of peace surrounded me, and when I opened my eyes, they fell upon his handsome serene face. The sharp lines of his jaw were more prominent since he had been rogue, but it was clear Nolen was at peace after weeks on the run. I reached up softly, tracing his face before kissing him on the lips.
Nolen’s arms tightened around me as he met my kiss with more passion. The kiss alone made my body heat up, encouraging me to take him again for round two. He broke our kiss, and our eyes met, flickering between his and his wolf’s color. I grinned, bringing my lips up to his again for a peck. “Good morning, mate.”
“Good morning.” Nolen chuckled at my raspy voice as he pushed back some of my hair from my face. I couldn’t get over the look he gave me every time he stared at me. How could I have missed these looks? His smile and that passion in his eyes were there every moment we had shared in the past, and I was too naïve to realize he was giving me hints. “So, what do you have planned today with my brother?”
“I plan to be right here with you until the last possible moment.” Nolen pulled me over on top of him. We were both still naked, and his cock throbbed underneath me. His hands ran over my skin, followed by his eyes, I blushed when they reached my pussy, and they lingered there longer than the other places. Nolen’s fingers caressed the little nub, and I shuddered with need when he inserted two fingers inside me. He stroked my G-spot until I was close to orgasm, then pulled them out at the last moment.
Someone pressed their mind against mine, and I tried to ignore them, but they were insistent. Bringing my attention back to Nolen, I halted his hands and lips. “Someone is trying to mind link me. I need to answer them.”
Nolen sighed as he rested his hands on my hips. I opened my mind to the person interrupting the pleasure my mate was giving me. About time you answer. We need you and Nolen down here in the office.
Really! The sun isn’t even up, and we were busy!
Amora, I want both your asses down here now. There is a problem with Nolen’s pack.
Fine.
I cut the link and returned my gaze back to Nolen. He cocked his head to the side with a mischievous grin. As much as I wanted to continue what we had been doing, we needed to head down to find out what was going on. “Sawyer needs us in his office. Something about your pack.”
Nolen sighed and sat up, and with one swift motion, he stood with me in his arms. I giggled as he placed kisses along my neck, and when he got to my mark, my core tightened as the pleasure from his mouth coerced a moan from my lips. Grabbing his face, I brought it up to mine as Nolan continued into the closet. He sat me on my feet and caressed my cheek with a chuckle. “I know, Amora. Let’s get dressed and see what my pack has gotten themselves into now.”
We walked hand and hand to my brother’s office. Each wolf we passed bowed their heads. Glancing at Nolen from the corner of my eye, I realized that he was focused in front of him as we made our way down the stairs to the bottom floor. The sparks that still ignited from our touch made me want to turn us around and head back to my bedroom, but I pushed that ever-consuming feeling down.
I had never realized that the hall was so long before, though it could be that I just wanted him to myself. Nolen’s grip tightened on my hand, bringing my attention back to him. Gazing up at him, he was smiling at me; we had reached my brother’s office door, and I could tell that something wasn’t right.
Entering the office, my brother was sitting at the desk while two warriors had hold of Nolen’s delta between them, his head held low. Nolen’s demeanor changed as his gaze flitted between his Delta and my brother. Danika was behind Sawyer, along with Beta Adam and Nolen’s gamma. Lucas was standing on the other side of the room. His face red with anger, his eyes blazing with his wolf’s, his gaze turned to Nolen, and when their eyes met, he bared his neck and kept his eyes down. “What’s going on, Sawyer?”
“My guards found Daylen in the cells trying to release the surrendered wolves of Dolostone. He also admitted to something I believe he should tell you himself.” Sawyer stood from his desk and made his way to us. He glanced at me, and I nodded, letting go of Nolen’s hand and standing on tiptoe. I kissed him, and he kissed me back. I turned from my brother and my mate and went over to Danika.
Nolen went up to the Delta and forced him to lift his head. The expression on his face told me that Nolen’s wolf was at the surface, and at this moment, death could be soon for the Rhyolite wolf. “Why were you trying to free the very people that enslaved your pack members?”
“They are not my pack anymore. I switched sides. They promised me that if I helped Alpha Wade take you down, I would have the Beta position of that territory. You and your dad were not doing anything with the threat he made. I gave you wolfsbane days before Alpha Wade came to make you surrender the pack. But like always, it wasn’t enough. So, when you were fighting him, I injected it into your thigh while you were distracted.” I couldn’t believe what this wolf was telling Nolen and how he kept eye contact with him. He apparently had a death wish. I grasped Danika’s hand, and she tightened her grip on mine. Luckily Nolen had Sawyer behind him, but I was not too sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing at the moment.
Nolen’s anger washed over me, and I realized he was going to attack before he did it, and I felt sorry for the wolves holding the Delta. He had the male from his pack against the wall, his face turning blue from the lack of oxygen. “You did what!! You low-life mother fucker!! What about my parents? You were supposedly taking care of them!”
Sawyer just stood there watching as his best friend held one of his packmates against the wall. I couldn’t take it any longer and pushed past Sawyer and laid my hands on Nolen’s flesh, bringing his attention back to me. His face was contorted in anger, and his eyes flashed his wolf’s before softening. “Nolen, this is not you. You are better than this. This is what he wants from you, don’t you understand that?”
Nolen kept my gaze as his face changed back to his gorgeous features. His eyes were the last turn, back to his beautiful blue eyes. Nolen turned back to the Delta and dropped him in a heap against the wall, holding his already bruising neck. “Take him away and throw him in the cells with his new pack. He is no longer a Rhyolite wolf.”
The two warriors nodded and grabbed him back up, dragging him toward the prison. Once they were away from us, I moved over to stand in front of him. His eyes had a faraway glaze to them, and I realized that he was worried about his parents. Reaching up, I brushed my fingertips over his cheek, and he leaned against my hand as he brought his up and over mine. “We will find out what happened to your parents, and we will take out any wolf that had anything to do with your downfall.”
Nolen smiled before placing a chaste kiss on my lips and turning to Sawyer. He kept me tight against his side; my brother’s eyes glanced at my mark and then Nolen’s before his boyish grin grew on his lips. “What do you think our plan of action needs to be now? I’m all for going to war now and showing that asshole what we are made of.”
“Yeah, but what happens if we don’t have the strength or the rest of the pack that stayed behind wants to be in his pack? I want to rescue my parents, but I’m afraid they have already been killed.” Nolen and Sawyer stared at each other as I stood there at his side. This was where I was meant to be, by his side for the rest of my life. It was what I dreamed of—being with him, and that dream had come true. Prayers really did come true!
“We will call a pack meeting. Gather everyone and see what they think. We leave right after the meeting if they are all for it.” Sawyer turned to Beta Adam and Nolen’s gamma. They both nodded, and their eyes glazed over as they both spoke to their respective packs. When their eyes readjusted, they nodded again. Sawyer reached out his hand, and Danika placed her hand in his. She was glowing, which made me want to have a pup soon as well.
Nolen nudged me, and I glanced up at him; his brows were furrowed with his head tilted to the side. A laugh escaped my lips at his expression, which only made him that much more confused. Shaking my head, I pulled him forward to walk behind Sawyer and Danika. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Thinking about having a pup this soon should not be on my mind as we were faced with a war between packs. I smiled up at him as he gazed down at me. There were a few times I had to keep him from running into someone. As we all filed into the big hall, the pack members made their way into the packhouse. This meeting would be a hard one.
Nolen and Sawyer stood closer to the edge of the stage, while Danika and I sat in a couple of chairs to the side and Beta Adam and Lucas, Nolen’s gamma, stood on the other side of the two Alphas. Sawyer called for order once everyone was in the hall, silencing the murmuring.
