Angelina’s eyebrow hitches up. “No?”
I shake my head.
“Lucky you.” She winks and turns back to fix the covers by my feet. “Well, I have to go check on a few things. I’ll be by in a while to check on you. I’m off for a few days, so I won’t be far. Do you need anything? Pain medicine? Lotion? Shower?”
My eyes flutter closed at the idea of a shower that would feel so good. Not as good as a hot bath, though. “There wouldn’t be a tub here? A bath?”
“Yes, we have one.” Angelina’s eyes brighten up. “Oh, but one of the guys would need to help you bathe. I don’t know if you want to do that.”
The thought of a man touching me, any man, makes my stomach turn. She’s right. I most definitely don’t want that. “No, that’s fine.”
She taps a finger to her chin. “I will be back after my shift. You think you can hold out until tomorrow. I’ll even bring some aromatherapy cream for you if you like. Shampoo, good conditioner, make a real relaxing day of it?”
All of that sounds like heaven. “Yes, I’ll wait for that. Thank you so much.” I reach my hand out for her, and she grabs my hand, giving it a soft squeeze. “Do you want me to tell anyone to come in?”
“Someone can come in and sit with me if they like, but I think I’m going to get a little sleep. I’m so tired,” I say to her. I’m sure my family is out of their mind with worry, but right now, I don’t think I can deal with all of them, not yet, at least.
“Absolutely, I completely understand. They’re not going anywhere. They’ll be there when you get your strength up a little more.” Angelina smiles at me, and I give her a smile back before I turn slightly to get comfortable. It doesn’t take very long before I’m drifting off again to sleep. I hope the next time I open my eyes, I don’t find that this was all just one wonderful dream.
