“Speaking of, how are you two doing?” A change in subject is good right about now.

“I’ll let you change the subject this time. We’re good. Taking things slow. I wasn’t really looking to get into anything outside the club either, but I really like Christy.”

“That’s good. Very good. I’m happy for you.”

“Thanks, J. Just think about coming back. The girls all miss you anyway,” he says with a crooked smile.

“I can’t say I miss them. I miss her.” Rodney nods his head and shifts in his seat.

“So what’s it going to take to get you off your ass and go after her?”

“I honestly don’t know,” I admit.

“Don’t let this go until it’s too late, J. Once it’s too late, there will be no one to blame but yourself.”

I know he’s right.

I shove out of my chair and head out into the club's main area with a sigh. The bar is fully stocked, lights are in place. It took me some time to get Sky’s up and running. I purchased this club before we were whisked away because of Bana and didn’t have time to do much with it, but it's become a priority in the months we’ve been back. I wanted another nightclub, and this was it.

Sky’s is perfect. Just like she is.

I walk over to the bar as Chelsea, one of my bartenders, comes out from behind the bar.

“Justice, this place is amazing! Have you seen the line out there?” she asks me.

“It looks great. I’m a little shocked at how quickly it all came together.”

“It’s perfect, Justice. You really outdid yourself on this one.”

“I hope the people agree,” I tell her.

“They’ll agree. It is a beautiful sight.” I spin around and look directly into big brown eyes when I hear that voice.

“Darby? What the hell are you doing here? When did you get here?” I ask before pulling her into a hug. She wraps her arms around me and holds me tightly, and this is exactly what I needed.

“About an hour ago. You don’t think I would miss this did you?” she asks with a bright smile. I order Darby a drink and pass it to her before pulling her into my side.

“Don’t leave my side at all tonight. I’m too stressed for that,” I tell her.

“Fine. You’re stuck with me.” Darby bats her lashes at me, and I can’t help but smile. Fuck I’ve missed this woman.

“When do you have to go back?”

“Tomorrow,” she says as a frown covers her face. I know Darby has her own life and her club, Sinful Desire, to run. She’s been my best friend for a long time, and even more, she’s my sister. However, we rarely have time to see each other these days.

“Then I guess we better make this night special,” I tell her. She nods her head as she finishes off her drink. As Darby grabs my hand and drags me toward the dancefloor, people stream in through the front door.

“We’re starting here!” She announces as the music begins to pulse around us.

We dance and laugh, and I realized a part of me needed this. But there’s still that lingering part that doesn’t want anything to do with this shit. It just wants her. And there’s an ache I never thought I’d feel again in the center of my chest.

As we dance, I see a commotion in the middle of the dance floor. I signal Darby that I’ll be right back, nodding toward the scene. She nods her head in understanding before I walk away and make my way through the crowd.

“What the hell is going on?” I roar as I step in between two men. When I notice one of them is Devon, a security guard I had on Skylar.

“Sorry, Justice. She didn’t want to see him, and he wasn’t taking no for an answer,” he says, nodding toward the girl next to him. That’s when I see her. Skylar.

“Sky?” I say as if she might disappear. I can’t believe she’s here in my club with another guy. Emotions roll through me, and I have difficulty catching my breath when Devon looks at me strangely. I shake my head and get myself together before turning to the other man.
