“The money.”

“That, sure. You knew I needed it. It’s more than that. For me, at least. Maybe we both started with one reason and kept going for others that came along the way.”

Lee stopped smiling and reached up to touch his face. “Sorry I choked you.”

“No, you’re not. It’s what you felt, what you wanted. I didn’t mind even a little bit.”

“God, what the hell are we doing here?”

Eli huffed, exasperated. “Why do we have to label it?”

“Because I live by schedules and plans, Eli! I don’t know how to do anything unless it’s been written somewhere first.”

“I thought…I thought I was the same. But when none of the plans I made worked out, I gave up and went with the flow. With you and me…we go day by day with this.”

“Okay. But…don’t make me watch you with others again, and I’ll do the same.”

“Deal,” he said, moving up to seal the deal with a quick peck. “That’s why you wanted me here, right? To take care of those urges.”

Lee breathed out a laugh and looked away from Eli as he confirmed, “Right. Right. God, I’m an ass.”

“That you are. Wanna go again?”
