“We can still go.”

“With what? No money. No car.”

“I’m sure there’s an ATM around somewhere.”

“Yeah.”

Nox raised his head. “Wow.”

“What?”

“You didn’t tell me no.”

“I’m willing to sacrifice my ethics for a good cause.” Luca could wind up sacrificing more if his cancer came back. There’d be no hiding it once he got sick, and they’d wind up right back under Isaiah’s roof.

That was assuming making use of an ATM was an option. If the Anubis was really gone, they’d have no way to break into one without being seen.

“Luca, Nox?” Isaiah’s voice was close enough to suggest he was right outside the door.

“Son of a bitch.” Luca got up.

“Be nice.”

Luca held up a fist. “I’ll be nice all right.”

Nox grunted and pushed himself upright.

“What are you doing?”

“Obviously, someone has to make sure you behave.” Nox got to his feet.

Luca pushed aside the tarp. Isiah stood at the end of the ramp with a large tote box in his grip.

“Go away,” Luca said.

Nox stepped up beside him.

Isaiah kept his eyes down and raised the box. “I brought you some clothes and food.”

“We don’t want—”

Nox put a hand on Luca’s shoulder. “Thank you, but we’re leaving in the morning and have enough till then.”

“I know,” Isaiah said. “But you’ll need supplies. And I brought you the keys for one of our cars.”

Luca frowned. “You’re giving us a car?”

“I’m letting you borrow it.” Isaiah smiled a little. “When you’re able to get another, you can leave it in a parking lot somewhere. I’ve put my number on a sheet of paper in the box. You can call and let me know where it is. We’ll pick it up on our way to the next campsite.”

“What if it’s not on the way to the next campsite?”

“Then I’ll send a couple of deltas to pick it up.” Isaiah shifted the box in his hands.

“We can do that,” Luca said.

Isaiah dipped his chin. “I’ll go put this in the back of the car and come back and help you pack.”

Luca dropped his shoulders. “I think we can man—.”
