Johnathan stepped back into the hall.
“When we get to the park, you—” He nodded at Loomis. “—and Michael will take point. If you see Isaiah, don’t engage.”
Craige used a wad of toilet paper to wipe his face. “Getting rid of him would solve a lot of problems.”
Johnathan kicked him in the hip. “Did I say you could talk?”
Craige didn’t look up.
“He’s got a point,” Loomis said.
“The Varu need him.”
Craige laughed. “Why, they have plenty of betas to stick their dicks in human pu—”
Johnathan grabbed him by the head of hair. “Do we need to have another discussion?”
A tick jumped in Craige’s jaw.
Johnathan shoved him in the direction of the toilet.
“No sir, First Beta, no sir.”
“You sure? Because I got the time. We can do this for the next three hours if you want?”
“No sir.”
“You positive?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Unless the plane is on fire and we’re all asleep, don’t you dare open your fucking mouth again.”
Craige nodded and Johnathan let him go.
Blue stained Johnathan’s fingers. He took paper towels from the dispenser, wiped them off, and threw them at Craige. “Clean those up when we’re done.”
Johnathan returned his attention to his other men. “Last count, there were five betas in Isaiah’s pack. They will be armed, so don’t be stupid. If they have a way to use the Rakta on you like they did Nash, then you may not survive.”
“What is Rakta?” Loomis said.
“Don’t worry about it. Just know it can fuck up your day.” Johnathan hoped he wouldn’t have to find out just how fucked up their day could get. “Caspin said Nash and Luca were camping in a horse trailer near the motorhomes.” Close enough for Isaiah to keep an eye on the prize but far enough away to appease the Anubis. “We won’t know exactly where until Seung casts her wolf.”
“And what happens when the other wolves see hers?” Dalton said.
“She says her Fenrir knows how to stay out of sight of other wolves. But, if they do, then we’ll figure it out on the fly.”
It seemed the Fenrir were always there even when none of them, even Seung, couldn’t see them and, at the same time, capable of hiding from one another.
Unfortunately, Alphas tended to break some of the rules, and Seung wasn’t sure if Isaiah’s wolf would see hers when it hid.
If she could send out her wolf like her brother, then they wouldn’t even need to be in the same state. But from what little Johnathan understood, Caspin didn’t control his Fenrir when he released it. He could request it to go somewhere, but it could choose not to. When it did go, it didn’t run the distance like other Fenrir. It left one place and appeared somewhere else. It’s why it could move without the other wolves sensing it.
But it took time and strength.
Considering the situation with Nash and Luca, Johnathan didn’t have the luxury of waiting.
“We’ll take two vehicles.” And as much as it pained Johnathan, he needed his best driver on the other vehicle. To Craige, he said. “You’re riding with Seung and Dr. Dante. Don’t make me regret it because I can guarantee you’ll regret it more.”
