Ooh. I hit a sore spot.

Brock stands up and lets out a low growl, taking a step closer to me. “I don’t hide behind shit. I make an honest living, unlike whatever the fuckyoudo.”

“You hide all the fucking time. You’re like a hermit. And you’re not very honest, are you? Ever since—”

“Shut the fuck up.” His body fills my space, his chest almost touching mine. I just smile at him, enjoying the torment.

“Not talking about it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen—”

I expect the punch, but the roar that accompanies the blow surprises me as he knocks me square in the jaw.

So, hedoesfeel guilty about what happened.

“Is that why you don’t want her here?” I taunt, swinging my fist. “Because it reminds you—”

Arms hold me back, pulling me away from Brock’s face.

“What the hell is wrong with both of you?” Dylan demands, stepping in between us. “You’re really going to do thisnow, with Olive in the house? You don’t think she’s scared out of her mind enough?”

Fuck, he’s right.

“You can take her and go,” Brock spits at me. “I don’t want her in my house. There’s a fuckingtwenty million dollarbounty on her.”

Dylan and I pause.

Holyshit.

Twenty million is enough to make even the wealthiest Los Angeles residents turn their heads and be on the lookout.

“Twenty million?” Dylan asks, dumbfounded.

“Yes, and the price keeps going up, the longer she’s missing.” Brock snaps, his lip bleeding from my hit. “It’s fucking dangerous andstupidto have her here. I take back what I said. If youreallywant an Omega, turn her in, then you can fuck her—”

Dylan and I both growl in unison.

“She’s staying here, like we agreed,” the blonde Alpha says slowly, his voice low. “Bounty or not.”

Brock grits his teeth and glowers at Dylan. A flash of guilt flickers over his features, but it disappears when he turns to glare at me.

“Try to hit me again,” he warns me. “And I’ll send your ass to an asylum, where you belong.”

I burst out laughing as he slams the door in my face.
