I shake my head. “I have the worst luck in the world,” I mutter. I can sense Killian staring at me, so I swivel my body carefully to turn my full attention to the safer Alpha. “I was here for a tech conference—my software company was presenting at the convention center. And then…it all went to shit.”

“You work in tech?” Dylan asks. “So does Brock.”

“Correction,” I say sadly. “Ididwork in tech.”

An awkward silence falls over the room.

Omegas don’t have occupations anymore. Doctors, scientists, artists—they’re all living inEden.

“My hotel was in North Hollywood. I was the only Omega there. And I kind of slipped through the cracks during the protests.”

“You were living in squalor,” Killian adds, and I turn around to glare at him.

“I didn’t have all the luxuries you three obviously have,” I snap, waving my hand around me. “I was trying tosurvive, then you decided to haul me to your house.”

His eyes narrow, and his scent spikes with anger, rich and peppery.

“That smart mouth is going to get you in trouble, Omega.”

I seethe.

Dylan must sense it, because he stands up suddenly and gives me a knowing smile. “Regardless, you can’t go anywhere at the moment, right? You need to heal. Your bedroom has a bathroom, too, so you can shower. We can order clothes for you…”

My stomach growls again, and I sigh.

I don’t have the energy to argue with them, and a shower sounds incredible.

I’m covered in grime, dirt, and dust. I put on deodorant this morning, but nothing can compare to standing under warm water and washing away the weeks of filth.

“Washing up sounds amazing,” I admit, embarrassed. I’m sure I stink.

Not that it should matter. I have better things to worry about than if they find me appealing.

But my inner Omega worries about it.

Dylan gives me another grin and I can’t help but feel calmed by his presence.

“I’ll cook something for you while you clean up,” he says.

I’m overwhelmed by his generosity. Maybe if I can appeal to him privately, he’ll help me leave.

Maybe he can be my ally.

I give him a small smile, and his eyes darken, sending a shockwave to my core.

Oh no.

He’sveryattractive.

Killian lets out a low rumble and wraps his arm around my waist. “I’ll help you to your room,” he says quickly. “Dylan can keep flirting with you later.”

Is hejealous?

What a ridiculous notion. It’s not like I’m dating any of them.

He doesn’t have a claim on me.

But his expression is stoic as he helps me up.
