I’m stunned into silence.
“I don’t hate you,” Killian adds. “Ishould. But I don’t. You’re my best friend’s brother, and Olive cares for you. We’re all in this together, whether or not we want to be.”
“Olive likes mefornow.”
“Yeah, which blows my mind,” he shrugs. “But she does. And maybe if you’re not…yourself…you won’t fuck it up.”
I glare at him. “Thanks.”
“Anytime. Look, dinner is in a bit, so maybe join us. Or don’t. I really don’t care.”
“Ido,” a sweet voice interrupts, and Olive joins Killian in the doorway.
Every time I see her, my heart stutters.
She’s dressed in a black tank top and black shorts, showing off her pale, creamy legs. Her red hair falls in messy waves down her shoulders, and the tiniest bit of cleavage peeks out from the dip in the top.
I’m rock hard in moments.
“Hey, beautiful,” Killian purrs, his hand resting on her waist. “You well rested?”
She nods. “Yeah. But the suppressants areexpired.”
I exchange a look with Killian, and she raises an eyebrow.
“You guys talking about me when I’m not here?” She inquires, and Killian smirks.
“You’reallwe talk about,” he says. She rolls her eyes and shoves at his chest playfully, and a rush of jealousy floods through my veins.
They’re already closer than I am with her.
We’re all in this together, I remind myself, echoing Killian’s words in my head.
We all offer her something different.
But how can what I offer possibly be what she wants?
I’m a monster. I—
“Can I speak to you privately?”
At first, I think she’s talking to Killian, but she’s talking tome.
“Yes,” I choke out immediately, and Killian snickers just as Olive blushes.
She’s fuckingblushingfor me.
Killian bends down to brush his lips against her ear, whispering something that makes her bite her lip.
“She saidprivately,” I snarl at him, unable to keep my jealousy at bay.
Killian chuckles. “Right,” he says, shaking his head. Then, he turns back to Olive. “Dinner will be ready soon, sweetheart.”
He shuts the door behind him.
Olive looks around, her eyes widening. “Wow. Do you always stay in the dark like a vampire?”
I frown, then realize my lights are out. The tinted window barely lets any light in, and my walls are painted a rich brown, with a white ceiling to accent it.
