Chapter Sixteen

After her shower, she rubbed lotion all over her body and pulled on her short nightgown. She checked Corey in the monitor and lay down. She thought she’d go right to sleep, but her instincts were telling her to go back to King, that he was where she was supposed to be.

She’d been taking it slow because she didn’t want to make any mistakes that could somehow break them apart. But there was no reason she should stay alone when she knew he wanted her in his bed, and oh, God, she wanted him as deep inside of her as he could go and bond them together like they used to be.

She slid out of bed and walked to his door, then took a deep breath before she opened it and slipped in.

He lay on his side and braced himself up on an elbow. “What’s wrong, baby?”

She gripped her hands together tightly and dug for the courage she needed to take this step. “I don’t want to wait.”

The shadows in the room made it hard to see him clearly, so she didn’t know if he was happy or not.

“You have to be sure because there’s no going back. I’m going to want it all.”

“What does that mean?”

“It means you’ll be in my bed every night, and I will have full control of what happens in this room and your body. You’ll live here for the rest of your life, and we’ll get married and have more children. I’m laying all my cards on the table, so you know my intentions. Can you handle them?”

Her pulse picked up speed after every one of his declarations. When he talked about marriage and other children, the air from her lungs got caught in her throat, almost choking her.

“Married and children?” she asked.

He tipped his head forward. “I want it all with you.”

Oh, God, it was a dream she’d had so many times over the years, and now that it was in front of her, fear of the unknown was trying to take over.

“Don’t be afraid, baby. I’ll take care of you and love you every day for the rest of our lives.” He held out his hand. “Come to me.”

She shuddered and inhaled. It was just going to take strength and trust to take this leap. If she didn’t, she’d regret it, so she had to take a chance. She took steps to stand in front of him.

“Good girl. Now, say I’m your daddy, and I always will be.”

Having a daddy was another fantasy she’d always had, and it was something they explored when they were together before. She cleared her throat. “I … I’m yours, Daddy, and I will be forever.”

“Fuck, baby, you’re so pretty and sweet. Take off the nightgown. You’ll never wear another one in this room.”

She nodded and pulled the nightgown up over her head, then let it drop to the floor and stood in front of him in nothing at all.

“God damn,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything as perfect as you.”

“I think you’re the perfect one.”

He grinned and lifted the blanket. “Slide in here, sweetheart.”

She got in the bed and then hissed when her body came flush with his hot flesh. He was always so warm.

He rolled her to her back and leaned over her. “I’m not going to wear a condom. Are you okay with that?”

“You want to start on another baby already?”

“Hell yeah. I want as many babies as you want to give me.”

“I’ve always wanted a big family,” she said. She always hated being an only child, and she knew he did, too.

“Let’s shoot for a basketball team and be pleased with whatever God gives us.”

She nodded and ran her fingers through his thick hair. “Okay.”
