Chapter Twelve
King kept his arm around her as they walked out of the elevator.
“Oh, my, you are a beautiful family, if I might say so.”
King smiled. “Thank you, Dempsey. This is Catalina and our son Corey.”
“I don’t think I’ve seen a more handsome boy in my life.”
Cat smiled. “Thank you. It’s nice to meet you, sir.”
“Oh, she’s just like my Larkin, isn’t she?”
King grinned at the obvious love the older man had for Larkin. “Yes, they’re both very sweet women, and Darian and I are lucky to have them.”
“Yes, you are. You’d have a hard time finding another one like them.”
“I agree. I have some men coming to get her things. There’s a pile just inside of the elevator. If you could let them up and show them the way, I’d appreciate it.”
“Absolutely. Please tell me if there’s anything more you need from me.”
“Not right now, but thank you. Have a good day.”
“You, too, sir,” Dempsey said and opened the front door for them.
He led them over to a black limo and a man who stood holding the door open. “Stanly, I’d like you to meet Catalina and our son Corey.”
His driver’s eyes widened. “Oh, he’s a handsome boy, isn’t he?”
“He looks a lot like his father,” Cat said.
Stanly chuckled. “Very much so.”
He let her go in first and then handed Corey to her before looking at Stanly. “We don’t have a car seat for him yet.”
“Don’t you worry, sir. I’ll take it slow and be extra careful.”
King patted the driver on the shoulder. “I trust you. Thank you.”
“Any time, sir.”
King got comfortable and placed Corey between the adults, then watched Cat get a few toys out of the bag they brought. He would never get tired of watching them together. Hell, he was obsessed with watching her, but it went beyond that when she had their son.
Their son. God, he didn’t think it had hit him yet that this beautiful boy was really his. He placed his arm on top of the seat behind Cat’s head. She froze for a brief moment when he started playing with her hair, but she didn’t stop him.
King watched her face as they pulled past tall metal gates and into the long, curved driveway. Instead of looking around with interest, she started to look apprehensive and uncomfortable.
“What’s wrong, baby?”
She glanced at him and blushed. “Nothing.”
He decided not to push it now. “I’ll ask later.” His door opened, and he got out. “Thank you, Hale.”
“You’re welcome, sir.”
“I want you to meet my family.”
Hale’s eyebrows rose. “Family, sir?”
