Chapter Eight
King’s car pulled up outside Darian’s building, and he saw his friend right away. They shook hands as they walked into the building.
“Besides Larkin, there are three other littles with Cat.”
“What’s happening?”
“They told their daddies they were spending the night with another little. There will be some hot asses tonight for lying.”
“Hello, Mr. Marsh.”
“Hello, Dempsey. Thank you for calling me.”
“Of course. I’ve seen the women get into mischief before, so I think it takes all of us to watch them.”
Darian chuckled. “Oh, hell yes. We daddies can use all the help we can get.”
Kaleb, Gage, and Kane ran into the lobby.
“What the hell is going on?” Kane asked.
“I’ll tell you an abbreviated version on the way up. We’ll tell you the rest later.” Darian punched in the code.
It felt like it took forever to get to the penthouse. King was trying to think of what to say and ignored what Darian was telling the other men.
Gage slapped him on the shoulder. “You got this, man. We’ll get our women out of here so you guys can talk.”
The elevator door opened, and the men stepped into the condo.
The first thing King saw was Corey on the carpet, surrounded by three of the littles, and he could tell the little guy loved the attention.
King’s gaze took in the rest of the place to see Larkin and Cat in the kitchen.
Darian glanced at him. “Ready?”
King inhaled and nodded. “As ready as I’m going to be.”
Darian cleared his throat, getting all the women’s attention. A few of them let out a little scream while the rest just gasped.
King took a step toward Corey when he started to cry but stopped abruptly when Cat made a desperate sound and raced over to him to take him in her arms and settle him. Her grip on the boy was tight, as though he would wrench him away from her, and he felt like a bastard.
“Girls, we need to go home so these two can talk this out.”
The girls turned mutinous and made a line in front of Cat with their arms crossed over their chests.
“Daddy, we won’t allow Mr. Richardson to take this baby from Cat,” Larkin said.
King raised his hand. “I would never do that, ladies.”
“You said you were taking her to court, sir,” Sienna said.
“I know, and it was stupid to say. I was desperate to hold my son. I’ll never say anything like that again. It was thoughtless.”
Brylee started crying. “She’s hurting so much…”
King nodded. “I know, honey. I have a lot to make up for.”
“Are you going to take care of her?” Aleena asked.
