“I read and listen to tapes.”
“You learned Russian from a tape?” Reid asked.
“Yes. That and some other languages. I like the sound of them.”
“How many languages do you know?” Warrick asked.
“Um, let me see. I think seven or eight, but I’m not fluent in all of them.”
All three men’s mouths dropped open. They had been in the CIA and traveled worldwide, and they didn’t know that many languages.
“That’s amazing, honey.”
She blushed. “Thank you. Did you guys need anything else?”
“No, we’re about done, and we’ve got to go.”
She set the check down. “Here you go. Just take it up to the cash register.”
“Okay. Thank you. We’ll see you soon,” Warrick said.
Her eyes widened, and she smiled. “Really?”
“Yes, really.”
“Be safe out there. It’s a crazy world,” she said.
He bit back a laugh. If she only knew how crazy it really was.
Warrick watched her walk away.
“Don’t worry. It won’t be long before the four of us are driving home,” Reid said.
Warrick sighed. “I just hope nothing happens to prevent her from coming or she says no.”
“She won’t,” Reid said.
They stood, and he picked up the check.
“Hey, mister, here’s the address you needed. So, we’re good, right?” Liv said as she rushed over to them.
Warrick scowled. “For now, but I better never hear of you doing something like that again.”
“I won’t.”
He almost snorted. He wasn’t going to hold his breath. “Have a good day.” He walked up to check out and saw Shelby sitting in a corner booth with a glass of juice, reading a book.
“Take care of the check. I’ll go give her a tip,” Warrick said. He walked over and stood over her. “Hi, honey.”
She looked up and smiled. “Did you need anything?”
“No, I just wanted to give you your tip. I wanted to make sure you got it this time.” He handed her some rolled-up bills, and she tucked them into the book.
“Thank you so much.”
“It’s worth it. You’re very good.”
She snorted and rolled her eyes. “I wouldn’t go that far.”
