Chapter Twenty-Two
Warrick held her hand as they walked down the hallway to his office. He felt her stiffen and looked up ahead to see Reid and Brett standing there.
He hugged her to his side. “Remember. They’ll be hurt if you can’t be around them.”
“I don’t want to do that.”
“I know you don’t. Why don’t you run to them and let them hold you for a moment?”
She looked up at him and nodded. “Okay.”
He grabbed her before she got away. “When I mean run, I mean in a safe, slow way.”
She rolled her eyes and giggled. “Okay, daddy.”
Warrick stood back and watched Brett lift her in his arms, so her body was a few feet off the ground. Reid ran his hand up and down her back as they all talked.
He smiled when she giggled and then hugged both men simultaneously. It looked like she was choking them from where he was, and he thought he should intervene.
“Hey, guys, do you want to go to lunch with us?”
Brett set her down, and she immediately came to take Warrick’s hand.
“Chinese. My little is obsessed with it.”
“Sure. I love Chinese, too,” Reid said.
Brett snorted. “There’s not a food you don’t love.”
Warrick followed behind the guys, with Shelby skipping beside him, giggling at them arguing.
Fuck, he thanked God every day she chose him. The thought of never knowing her love or trust was enough to make him sick. He had to remind himself, he had Shelby, and she wasn’t going anywhere. Not for the rest of her life because she was his.
