“If they’re from Russia, their orders could be if they can’t get the information, they are supposed to silence the people trying to make the software, so they don’t create it for the US. After they kill the girls, they take a pill that kills themselves within seconds, so you can’t get any information out of them. You know how these other countries are. Most of them will do anything to get what they want.”
“I’m sending in a few other guys,” Eli said as he texted.
Warrick relaxed a bit but still frowned at the guy. “What are you thinking of doing?”
“We want to see how far they will go, but now, if you’re right, we’d rather just have them alive.”
“You won’t get anything out of them,” Kane said.
Mr. Donelly sighed. “Probably not.”
“You’ll need to take them by surprise, and the sooner, the better,” Eli said.
“We were hoping to wait a few more days.”
Every man in the room shook their head.
“No fucking way,” Caleb said.
There was a knock on the door, and Bella peeked in.
Caleb held out his hand. “Come here, precious. What’s up?”
Bella ran to him and whispered in his ear. Caleb instantly stiffened, stood, lifted her into the chair. “Stay there.”
Bella nodded.
“Bella just told me she saw Shelby with two strangers, and she looked scared.”
“How in the fuck did they get her out of the room?” Warrick bellowed as he and the others raced out of the room.
They spread out and looked down every hallway. Warrick turned a corner to see them pulling Shelby toward the elevator.
He ran that way as fast as he could. A few of the good guys tackled them and tied them to keep from killing themselves or something.
Warrick was there to pick Shelby up. “God, baby, what the hell? How did they get you out of the office?”
“Wait, let’s take this into the conference room,” Eli yelled for more guys. “Keep these two under close supervision. They might try something.”
Several men wrestled them down the hallway and into a room.
Warick picked Shelby up and held her tightly against his chest. He could feel her shaking, but fortunately, she wasn’t crying or hysterical.
The door closed behind the crowd. Warrick sat down in his chair with her in his lap and saw Caleb and Eli do the same. He knew how they felt. They needed their girls close to them to feel like they could hold it together.
“How is she doing?” Mr. Donelly asked.
Warrick growled. “She’s scared but unhurt. If one hair on her head had been damaged, it would have taken every man in here to keep me from killing you.”
Mr. Donelly wiped a drop of sweat off his forehead. “I don’t blame you. Is she able to tell us what happened?”
He tilted her head up. “What do you think?”
“I can.”
“All right. I’m so proud of you.”
She smiled and pressed her fingers to his cheek before facing the group. “A few guys that worked here came into Eli’s room. I had just used the … potty and was coming out.”
