Chapter Eight
“Mmmm.”
Warrick’s eyes opened when she tried to move around. “Hey, easy.”
She squinted over her shoulder. “Warrick?”
“Yeah.”
She looked around the interior of the vehicle. “Where are we?”
“We’re in our SUV headed home.”
“Home?”
“Yeah, remember you’re coming home with me?”
She looked at him in confusion. “We talked about it, right?”
He grinned. “Yes.”
“I feel funny about it.”
He swept the hair from her face. “Why, baby?”
“My life has changed so much today. It’s hard to get my head to wrap around it.”
“Take your time. If you don’t feel comfortable staying with me, I can get you an apartment, but I’d rather find a friend that I know you’d like, and you’d stay with her and her man.”
“I’d rather stay with you.”
He pressed a kiss to her temple. “Good. I’d like you there, too.”
She turned away and relaxed. “I’m tired.”
“Then go back to sleep. I’ll be here to hold you.”
She patted the hand on her hip.
“How is she doing?” Brett asked.
“Good. She’s just tired.”
“Most is probably the medicine they gave her, and remember, she was tired before today.” Reid grinned. “Because of thestuffgoing on with her neighbors. God, that blush was adorable. She couldn’t even saysex.”
Warrick chuckled.
“Do you want to stop for dinner?” Brett asked.
“Yes. She hasn’t eaten since this morning.”
“We can set you up, and you can hold her in your lap?”
“We’ll see how she feels.”
Brett looked at him in the rearview mirror. “Do you guys want McDonald’s or a diner?”
“I say McDonald’s. I’ll see what she likes.”
