Chapter Seven
Warrick followed the two men into the ER. He held on to Shelby as Brett talked about the situation to the nurse at the desk. The place wasn’t busy at the moment, so they got right in.
He set her on top of one of the beds and stood beside her with a hand on her thigh while the other two stood off to the side with their arms crossed.
The nurse came in and stopped short when she saw all the people in the cubicle. “I’m sorry, but only two people…”
“They’re not going anywhere,” Warrick said.
The nurse’s mouth snapped shut at the tone of his voice. He was used to getting people’s attention.
“Very well. Where is her injury?”
“Back right shoulder.”
“Then we’ll need to get her into a robe. She’ll only have to take her top off.”
The nurse handed Warrick the robe. “Would you like me to help?” she asked.
“No, we’ve got it,” Warrick said.
“All right. I’ll be right back.”
Warrick nodded, turned, and started unbuttoning her shirt again. He grinned when she tried to hide her breast behind her arm, but all it did was enhance them.
“Give me an arm, baby.”
He helped her slide the robe on, and Brett tied the back.
Warrick rubbed her back and grasped her cold fingers.
“I don’t want to be here,” she whispered.
“We’ll do everything we can to keep you comfortable.”
She turned to see the guys. “Reid, you’ll be here to make sure he does it right?”
“I’m not going anywhere, honey.”
She nodded and looked at the other man. “Brett?”
“I’ll be here the whole time, sweetheart. Just relax,” Brett said.
The nurse came back in and took all her information. Warrick gave her his insurance, but they would figure it all out later.
“Could you lie on your stomach so I can see the wound?”
She bit her lip and glanced up at Warrick.
“We’re not going anywhere,” he said.
He and Reid helped her to her stomach. Warrick walked to the other side of the bed and put his hand on her lower back. Reid grabbed her hand and let her squeeze his fingers, and Brett ran his hand up and down her leg.
The nurse looked at all of them strangely, but he didn’t give a shit.
“What do we have here?” the doctor said as he walked in.
The nurse told him about the injury.
