Chapter Ten

Ava chuckled at something Larkin said. The woman was a powerhouse. She never stopped moving, and Ava wished she had half her energy.

She jerked her head around when Larkin screamed, “Daddy,” as Darian walked in to pick up the girls.

Darian chuckled as he caught her up in his arms when she jumped. “Baby girl, we’ve talked about this. You’re in a library. You’re supposed to be quiet.”

Ava grinned when Larkin giggled and then whispered something in Darian’s ear. It must have been sexual because his complexion darkened, his eyes became hot, and his whole body stiffened.

“You’re a bad girl,” he murmured against the side of her head.

Ava could feel herself become aroused.

Nia nudged her with her shoulder, and she could a sense blush reddening her face at the knowing smile on her face.

“Don’t be embarrassed. They make me hot, too. It’s hard not to.”

Ava turned back to see Darian set Larkin on her feet. He didn’t release her but kept a hand on her ass to hold her against his side. “Are you girls ready?” he said.

They all nodded, grabbed their bags and books, and hugged Ava.

“Can you come over Friday night? We’re having a get-together,” Sienna asked.

“Oh, I don’t know.” She thought she’d feel out of place.

“Come on, Ava,” Nia said. “It will be fun. I’ll be there, and I think you’ll know about everyone there.”

“All right. Text me the time and address.”

Sienna squealed and jumped up and down. “I can’t wait.”

Ava smiled and waved the group off before she turned and cleaned up the small study room they used. They had started off in a corner, but the girls couldn’t be quiet all the time and were very explicit with some of the things they said, and they liked to talk about the men.

The guard who usually came with the girls sat at a table outside the room but could see through the glass to watch the girls.

Nia had to explain why they always had a man with them for their protection. The daddies took their safety seriously and did everything they could to protect them.

Instead of feeling shocked, Ava felt envious that someone cared about them that much. She’d never had that. Her mom had tried to protect her, but since it had been the two of them and her mom worked two jobs to support them, Ava was left on her own a lot and had to learn how to take care of herself.

She’d never met her father. Ava suspected he had broken her mother’s heart because she would never talk about him, even when Ava asked questions about him. She’d finally given up asking when she was twelve.

“Miss Blanchard, there’s a call for you.”

Ava turned to see Phyllis storm off, rolling her eyes.

A smile came to her face when she thought of what Sean had said about Phyllis needing to get laid and didn’t think it was a bad idea. She just didn’t know a man who would want to be close to a person like that.

Ava sat at her desk chair in her office and answered the phone. “Hello.”

“Hi, baby. How are you feeling?”

Ava’s heart seized, and her breath caught. Just the sound of Sean’s voice was enough to make her wet her panties and her nipples hard.

“I feel fine. How are you?”

He paused. “You better be telling me the truth, little girl. If I find out you lie to me, your sweet little tush will feel my hand heat it up.”

Her breath stuttered in her throat. She wanted to be appalled, but instead, it just made her hotter. Clearing her throat, she said. “I’m sorry. What did you say?”
