Chapter Fifteen
Duncan let people in as they arrived. With every person that showed up, Kyla’s smile got bigger, and her happiness grew.
He breathed a sigh of relief when Trey and Jenna showed. They were the two who would make her the happiest.
“She’s upstairs. Follow me.”
He, Trey, and a few other men stood off to the side and watched the reunion between the girls. They stared at each other for a brief moment before bursting into tears and then hugging each other.
Duncan heard them talking but couldn’t make out the words. He grinned when the other women in the room joined in, and before he knew it, there was a bundle of littles smashed together in one big hug, laughing and crying.
“They never cease to amaze me,” Darian said. “They’ve got so much love in them they’re practically bursting with it.”
“If they don’t stop, they’re all going to fall over,” Travis said, then laughed.
Duncan leaned against the wall and put his hands in his jean pockets when Jenna brought Kyla over to talk to Trey. He wasn’t worried she would be upset because he knew Trey was only going to make her feel better.
Duncan listened to Trey’s words and could tell she’d forgiven the man.
“I am so sorry for hurting you, honey. I would never deliberately do that. You’re special to me and everyone here. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?”
Duncan was so proud of her when she smiled and hugged him. “Of course, Trey.”
“Thank you. You know Jenna and I are here for you no matter what, and I have to warn you if you try to run off again, you’ll have a bunch of daddies after your ass.”
She glanced over at Duncan and then back before she giggled. “I won’t. I promise.”
“Good. Now, go on and play. The men will be downstairs.”
Duncan walked the men into the living room. “Who wants a beer? I’ll get them if one of you wants to pour the other drinks.”
When he came back with a few cans, he found all seven men sitting around the room talking. He took a seat and relaxed back.
He was so glad to be home and finally have Kyla in the house where she was supposed to be.
“Are you coming back to work in the next few days?” Rylan asked him.
“Yeah. I need to get into the office tomorrow. I’m getting caught up on some work here when I can, but I know I’d get a lot more done there.”
“What are you going to do with Kyla?” Darian asked.
“I’ll have to take her with me. I won’t leave her home alone.”
“We can get her things to do in the building,” Rylan said. “I’ve got Faith in an office next to mine. She’s actually a great help. You might consider having Kyla in with her. They’d be good for each other.”
“I’ll ask her, but I agree. If she were with another little and in the same building, I wouldn’t worry so much.”
Darian chuckled. “Oh, you’ll worry. That will never stop. I’m anxious to see how we’ll all deal with it when our children start coming.”
“Anything you want to tell us, Darian?” Travis asked.
Darian chuckled. “No, not yet. I am going to marry her soon, though. I think she’s ready now.”
Duncan thought about that. Darian and Larkin had been together for years, and she was just now ready.
“May I ask why you waited so long?” Duncan asked.
“It took a while to get her settled into the lifestyle. She was very insecure for a long time, but now she’s doing better.”
