Chapter Nineteen
Once the elevator door closed, she let a tear fall, and she wiped it away angrily. Damn him. He heard the story, and instead of being proud of her, he was throwing her out. Fuck him. She’d known this day would come, and if something like this was what broke them up, then it was better it happened now instead of later when her heart would be even more involved.
She stuffed several outfits into a bag in the condo, grabbed the things from the bathroom, and headed out. She wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of yelling at her and tossing her out.
He could go to hell.
The elevator seemed to take forever, and she was almost tempted to take the stairs when the doors opened. Her heart sank when Trey and Gavin stepped out.
She ignored Gavin as Trey stared at her for a long moment.
“You don’t have to say anything, asshole. I’m out of here.”
“Oh, where do you think you’re going?” he asked with a raised brow.
“Does it matter? You’re getting what you want. I’m gone.”
“Did I say that?”
“You said to pack my bag. That usually means get out.”
He pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head.
She looked at Gavin. The guy had always been nice to her, but at the moment, she saw the disapproval in his face as he stood to the side with his arms crossed, and she hated it.
“What the hell are you doing here?” she asked Gavin.
“I asked him to come,” Trey said.
“For what? You can’t handle throwing me out on your own?” When he didn’t say anything, she stepped around him. “I’ll be back for the rest of my things later.”
The elevator doors were closing when he pushed the doors open and yanked her out.
“What the fuck are you doing?” she yelled.
He took her bag and threw several feet away, bent, and flung her over his shoulder.
She started beating on his back. “You fucking bastard. Put me down.”
“No. Come on, Gavin.”
Trey tossed her on the bed and then crossed his arms.
“What the hell?” she yelled. She felt a shiver of trepidation rush through her when Gavin closed and locked the door. “I want to know what’s going on.”
“You’re going to be punished is what’s going on, pet.”
“For what?” she shouted.
“For putting yourself in a dangerous situation.”
“It wasn’t my fault. The prick tricked me into going down.”
“That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about willingly leaving with him.”
“Because he was going to start shooting people,” she yelled at him.
“So, you were going to actually leave?”
