“I hear you’re ready to go home?” the doctor said.
Jenna nodded.
“Okay, let’s check your vitals, and I want to check your ribs. If everything looks okay, I’ll release you.”
She watched as her four visitors stood off to the side. Travis and the girls over by the window, and Trey stood a foot away, watching everything they did. She hadn’t realized the doctor had pulled up her gown until she felt his hands on her.
Her instinct was to slap his hand away, and it took all her strength to keep from reaching out. She jerked when Trey placed his massive hand over hers.
She glanced at him, and he smiled like he knew how she was feeling.
“Shit!” she cried out when the doctor pressed on her bruised ribs.
“I’m sorry,” the doctor said. “Everything looks good. If I know you’ll have someone looking after you, I’ll send you home.”
“She’ll be with me, doctor.”
The older man nodded. “Good. I think it’s going to have to be a man your size to keep this one out of trouble.”
“I’ll do my best.”
“The nurse will take out your IV and get your discharge papers. If you don’t have any clothes here, I’ll have someone bring you some scrubs.”
“I brought her something, sir.” Kyla held up a sack.
“Good.” The doctor turned back to Jenna. “I hope I don’t see you in this hospital ever again, young lady. Take care.”
She glanced up when Trey squeezed her hand, and he nodded at the doctor.
“Thank you,” she said.
The doctor turned at the door and smiled. “You’re welcome, child.”
It took a minute to realize what had happened, and she stiffened and glared up at him. She gritted her teeth when he raised an eyebrow and smirked. He was already controlling her, and it took very little effort on his part.
That shit wasn’t going to fly with her. She would be the one in control, and there was no one or anything that could change that decision.
“There you go. I’ll be back with the discharge papers.”
Jenna looked down at her hand. Now she had an attractive Band-Aid on the back of her hand. It went well with all the scratches and bruises she had received from her fight with Billy. That son of a bitch was going down. He wasn’t going to get away with messing with her.
He’d learn the hard way that this bitch fought back. She looked up at Trey. And he’d learn she didn’t bow down to anyone. She didn’t care how big they were.
