Larkin walked over to the other girls, sat, took their hands, and whispered.
“We’ll be careful. Thank you.” Trey walked over to the other men who stood close together by the window. He gripped the back of his neck to help ease the tension.
“Travis was just telling me they didn’t catch Billy,” Darian said.
Trey nodded. “Yeah. The prick got away for now.”
Darian sighed. “We need to make a plan for when she can go home.”
“Travis, did you check out one of the condos in our building?” Trey asked.
“Yeah, there are two open. They’re both fully furnished and have three bedrooms. Are you thinking of taking one?” Travis asked.
“Yeah, until I get more settled and look for a place. I thought I’d take the girls back there. I’m going to ask them to quit working at the theatre and live with me until we can find other arrangements. Their walk home was pretty fucking dangerous. There were very few streetlights and no traffic.”
“Hell,” Darian said. “I agree. I should have looked further into it, but they both said it was really safe.”
Trey shook his head. “It’s not safe at all.”
“What will they do if they don’t work at the theatre?” Travis asked.
Trey rubbed the back of his neck as he tried to come up with a solution. “Are there any jobs in our building?”
He watched as Travis seemed to think about it for a moment and then shook his head.
“Not that I can think of, but we can always make something up.”
“You might check with Devon. He might have some openings in his building,” Darian told them.
Trey shook his head. “I want them both close for now. At least until we catch Billy. I’m setting up my office so they can help with that for now.”
The men looked at the bed. She looked so damn tiny and helpless.
“She’s going to fight you,” Travis predicted.
“She can try, but I don’t scare or give up easily. I just want to make sure they’re both safe for now.”
Travis chuckled. “Good luck with that.”
“I’m going to take Larkin to our condo in the city,” Darian said.
Travis looked at him. “How about I take the other two home with me, and you stay here with Jenna?”
Trey nodded at Travis. “Good. They looked wiped out. I’ll keep you all up-to-date.”
Darien nodded and then held a hand out to Larkin.
“But, Daddy—”
“Shhh, she needs her sleep, baby. Trey is going to stay and keep her safe.”
Larkin leaned against Darian and nodded.
Trey watched the two leave before he turned back to Travis. “Any chance I can get into the condo tomorrow?”
“I don’t see why not, but you know you are all more than welcome at my house.”
Trey thought about it for a moment and then shook his head. “I think it’s better to separate the girls as much as we can so they don’t try anything.”
