Epilogue
Faith laughed as she and Larkin, Kyla, and Ashton walked from the living room. She was showing her new friends around the house they were moving into in Arkansas.
She gasped and grabbed Larkin’s arms when the front door opened and Duncan walked in. This was the first time she’d seen him since he’d been in her ass, and she couldn’t face him. At least not yet.
She pulled the girls in front of her. “Don’t move. I don’t want him to see me,” she whispered.
Kyla looked over her shoulder. “Who is it?”
Larkin and Ashton snickered.
Faith pressed her finger to her lips and then mouthed, I’ll tell you later.
Faith knew she failed when she heard Duncan snort, and the girls stiffened.
“Faith, honey, come here.”
“She’s not here, sir,” Larkin said.
“You’re the one who belongs to Darian?” Duncan asked Larkin.
“Yes.”
Faith closed her eyes at the meek sound of Larkin’s voice. As far as she knew, the woman didn’t know what that word meant.
“I’ll be sure to tell him about you lying to me.”
“Wait,” Larkin said.
“We’ll deal with you in a bit. Faith, come here now, or I’ll spank your little ass.”
Faith sighed, stood up, and walked to stand in front of him. She knew her face was scarlet from embarrassment, and she wanted to kick him when his grin grew.
He grasped her shoulders. “We are friends, right?”
“Um … yes.”
“Maybe closer than others?” he asked and chuckled.
Her teeth snapped together as she crossed her arms over her chest and narrowed her eyes. She refused to say anything.
“All right. I won’t tease you,” he said. “But I don’t want you to run when you see me. It will hurt my feelings.”
Oh, he knows what buttons to push, she thought.
“Okay, honey? I want us to be good.”
She saw him looking over her shoulder at something, and she turned her head to see Kyla fidgeting and blushing. Faith smiled. This was interesting.
“I promise,” Faith said. This was an excellent way to get the attention off her. “Would you like to meet my friends?”
Duncan pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Yes, I would.”
She took his hand and pulled him over to the girls.
“Hey, guys, this is … a friend of mine, Duncan. He works with my Daddy. Duncan, I’d like you to meet my friends, Larkin, Ashton, and this is Kyla.”
He shook each girl’s hand but paused when he stopped in front of Kyla.
“Hi, honey,” Duncan said. “I’m very interested to know if you have a daddy.”
Faith almost snorted when Kyla bit her lip and shook her head.
“That’s good to know. I’ll come to find you later.”
Faith rolled her eyes, walked over to Kyla, and grabbed her hand. “We’ll be in the TV room, Duncan.”
He nodded. “Good. I’ll see you all soon.”
