“Undress her, rub her back, and make sure she doesn’t fall off the table. I’m going to shower quickly. I’ll yell for you when the bath is ready, and then I’ll have you bring her to me, if that’s okay?”
“Fuck, yeah. Carrying a beautiful naked woman won’t be any hardship for me.”
Devon smiled and nodded.
He walked back into the master bathroom and started the large tub they liked to spend time in. Before Emma, he’d never had an urge to take a bath. Now he couldn’t wait for them.
Devon stripped and jumped in the shower. When he was done washing, he slid into the tub, which was already half full of water and had a tremendous amount of bubbles.
He let out a shrill whistle, and within a minute, Zachary came into the bathroom with a very naked and sleepy Emma in his arms.
“Did you have any trouble with her?” Devon asked, a little apprehensive that he’d left his friend to take care of Emma. He didn’t know if he was pushing her too fast, but he would be in their lives forever, and she needed to get comfortable with him.
Zachary grinned, shook his head, and handed her over to Devon. “No. She opened her eyes, and once she saw it was me, she said my name, smiled, and then went back to sleep.”
“Thanks, man.”
“Do you need anything else before I go? Zachary asked.
Devon shook his head. “No. I’ve got it from here.”
“I left the file on the table for you two to look through. If something doesn’t appeal to her, I can find others.”
“Thanks for doing that for me.”
“Anytime, man.”
Devon listened to Zachary leave the condo before he turned his attention to Emma.
He nuzzled the side of her head as his hands slid over her. He noticed she started to wake up. “How are you doing, pet?”
She tilted her head back and to the side to look up at him. “I’m okay. I’m embarrassed, and I feel bad about what I did.”
“We haven’t been together that long, baby. Give yourself a break. Just know that I wouldn’t do anything to make you unhappy.”
She reached up and back so she could touch his cheek. “I knew that somewhere deep inside of me. I just think everything that’s happened has left me unsettled or something. It’s like I was tossed out of the life I’ve always known into a few dangerous situations and then met you. It’s like I don’t have a home. Does that sound silly? Because I do, the house is still standing.”
He cupped her face and lifted it to his. “You listen to me, pet. You do have a home. You always will, and that is with me, wherever I am. I don’t care where we live as long as I’ve got you.”
A grin crossed her face, and a spark of light grew in her eyes. “As long as I’m with you, I know I’ll be okay.”
“That’s right.” He smiled and wiped the bubbles he’d smeared across her face. “So, no more running?”
She shook her head. “No, Daddy. No more running. But does that mean no more punishments?”
He smirked. “I’m sure there are other things that you’ll do to get in trouble so that punishment will come in handy down the line.”
Her bottom lip pooched out in a pout. “You’re a mean daddy.”
He bent and kissed the tip of her nose. “But I’m the only daddy you’re ever going to have, so you better get used to it.”
She smiled. “It’s perfect, Daddy. I love you.”
“I love you, too, baby.”
