Page 28 of Wishing on Him

NINE

Emerson

It’sDenver’s birthday today and I’m scurrying around the room, trying to finish getting ready before his family gets here. This will be the first time that I meet them, and I want to make a good first impression. I’ve talked to everyone on the phone and Denver has told me so much about everyone that I feel like I already know them.

Still, I love Denver and I want to spend my life with him and that means getting along with his family, so I take one last look in the mirror, making sure that my makeup isn’t smudged and that all of my hair is in place and my navy blue wrap dress is laying just right before I slip my matching shoes on and rush out of the room.

“Are you ready, Den? If we don’t hurry, we’re going to be late meeting them for dinner.” I call over my shoulder as I make sure I have everything I need in my purse.

“Wow, Em. You look… stunning.” He finishes and I turn to watch as his eyes run hungrily over me.

“This old thing?” I joke, cocking my hip out and fluffing my hair.

He laughs as he makes his way over to me, slipping his arms around my waist and dragging me into him until nothing separates us.

“I love you.” He says before his mouth comes down on mine.

I get lost in his kiss, wrapping my arms around his neck and trying to climb him. It always feels like we can never be close enough when we get like this. We get lost in each other as soon as we touch, and I wonder if it will always be like this. It doesn’t feel like this feeling will go away anytime soon.

I pull away and gasp when I see the clock over Denver’s shoulder.

“Oh gosh! We’re going to be so late, Den!” I practically yell as I spin around, grabbing my purse.

I’m halfway to the door before I feel Denver’s fingers wrap with mine. He tugs me to a stop, spinning me to face him. I look up at him, confused and anxious to get going so that we’re not too late.

“What?” I ask, looking around for anything that I could have missed.

“I just need to ask you one thing before we go.” Denver says.

I look at him expectantly and gasp as he drops down to one knee in front of me.

“Oh my gosh, that fountain worked.” I mumble as I stare down at him in shock. Denver gives me a questioning look, but I wave him off. He chuckles lightly before he clears his throat and starts.

“Emerson Goodwin, I love you. I’ve loved you since the second that you ran into me a year ago. I loved you the entire time that we were just friends and I know that I will love you for the rest of my life. There’s no one that I want to travel the world with, that I want to have children with, that I want to grow old with. You’re it for me.”

I can feel the tears starting to leak out of the corners of my eyes and trail down my cheeks. He pulls something out of his pocket and grips his hand in mine as he looks up to me again.

“So, Emerson, will you make my birthday wish come true and marry me?”

“Yes, oh gosh, of course, I will. I love you so much, Denver.”

Denver smiles at me before he slips the ring onto my finger and stands, wrapping me up in his arms. His lips find mine again and I moan as he backs me up against the wall. He tries to work his hands under the hem of my dress and I’m about to let him when his phone starts to go off.

I pout as he pulls away from me, letting my fingers trail down his chest. It’s then that I see the ring that he slid onto my finger and I gasp as it catches the light, shining and sparkling as I move my hand left and right. It’s a gorgeous solitaire diamond in a platinum setting and it’s perfect.

Denver ends his phone call and I look up at him.

“That was my parents. Everyone is already at the restaurant.” He says, sounding like a kid who just had his treat stolen from him.

I laugh at his tone as I grab my purse and slip past him.

“There will be plenty of time for that later tonight.” I say with a wink over my shoulder as I head out the front door.

Denver frowns but hurries after me. We hop in the car and get on the highway, headed over to Ocean Springs where the restaurant is. My hand is resting on Denver’s leg and I suddenly get an idea. I slide my fingers higher on his leg until they’re brushing along his zipper. I can feel his cock hardening under them as I slowly tug his zipper down and wiggle my hand inside his dress slacks.

Denver’s breathes are coming out in pants now and he shoots me an aroused but curious look. I smile at him as I pull his cock out and start to stroke it with my hand. He rests his head back on the seat, gripping the steering wheel tight as I start to jerk him off. When the traffic starts to clear, I move my seatbelt out of the way and lean over the center console, taking him into my mouth.

“Jesus, fuck!” Denver shouts above me as my hot mouth slides down onto him.
