Now that there was no Daisy, I could never afford a place on my own. I’d racked up a few unexplained absences at the daycare. If I wasn’t fired, I would be on probation.
Maybe cutting my losses and heading back to Talon Rock was the best move. I was never going to go to college like Daisy. I might have a high school degree, but I’d never been scholarship-worthy like Daisy.
I’d never be able to afford college even with student loans if I accounted for living costs for me and all of Layla’s very particular needs.
When Borya came back out with a loaded bag, I sat up straighter. Whatever my plans were for the future, he was going to do whatever he wanted with me. He’d made that clear. Somehow, someway, he apparently felt something for me. That’s why he was letting me go. In his demented mind, leaving me with his brother was the safest place for me.
But he didn’t know all the twisted details of my past, and I wasn’t about to tell him.
He acted like I wasn’t even there as he moved to the monitors and started to scan through the house, looking for the footage that covered the door to the panic room.
“Get your shit. We’re running as soon as the shift change happens.”
He had me trapped down here for an entire day and now he couldn’t get rid of me fast enough. If I had known all it would take was cunnilingus, I would’ve taken off my pants a lot sooner.
I bitterly laughed at my own joke and Borya gave me a questioning look over his shoulder.
Yeah, wasn’t going to explain that one. I was too busy being mortified and confused.
Seeing as how I was dragged down here while bound, it wasn’t like I had a lot to pack up. “Do you want me to take anything for you?”
“Just your pretty ass.” He kept his gaze on the monitors as though I didn’t exist, which drove me crazy. How could he go from eating me out like a starving man at a buffet one second, to telling me that he was just going to drop me off somewhere the next?
“It’s go time.” He hoisted the duffel bag over his shoulder and withdrew his handgun, flicking off the safety. “Are you ready, Kitten?”
Absolutely not? “Sure. Let’s get going.”
