“You have three days to get the identity set up and the money transferred,” Sam said knowing a better opportunity when he heard it.
“You leave, don’t come back ever and not a single word to Luke about any of it; if he finds out the deal’s off.”
“I’d rather not end up like Chance, so we have a deal,” he stated before moving away from her.
Dani vaguely became aware that he was gone as the panic racked her. She tried to move but a pain seared across her stomach, and she was rooted to her spot. She breathed trying to push it all away and felt the panic leave, but the pain hit her again.
“No,” she pleaded moving to the counter to get the phone. “Brad…”
“Dani what’s wrong?”
“I think I’m going into preterm labor.” Dani didn’t hear a reply, but when the phone cut off, she knew he was on his way over from his apartment two blocks up the street. She was almost to the door when it opened, and he raced in to get her.
“It’s going to be okay Dani,” he promised lifting her.
“Luke…”
“I’ll call him Dani.”
She leaned back into the seat as he flew towards the hospital calling the doctor before trying to reach Luke. They were met by a whirl of activity when they arrived, and she was inside a room hooked to a monitor before she could utter a word.
Miranda hurried in checking the notes the other doctor had wrote.
“Dani, it’s okay,” she said rubbing her shoulder. “We’re going to give you some medication to stop the contractions. It will probably make you sleepy so don’t fight it. We need to get your blood pressure down.”
She nodded barely breathing as the thought of losing the babies gutted her. “Luke?”
“I left a message for him and told Lori to send him over when she sees him,” Brad answered. “I’ll find him Dani. You let the doctors take care of you and I’ll get him.”
She nodded again not trusting her voice as he headed out. If anything happened to them, she’d kill Felix herself. He wasn’t going to take anything else away from her.

Luke was about to fall asleep. This board meeting was the most boring thing he’d sat through in ages, and it was supposed to be an emergency one. He shifted in his chair glancing down at his watch as the others continued to argue over nothing.
The door flew open, and he spotted Brad coming in as a secretary hurried after him. “You can’t just barge in here…”
“Brad what’s going on?” Luke asked as he ignored the woman.
“It’s Dani, she’s at the hospital.”
“What? What happened?” he demanded grabbing his things in a rush.
“Let’s just get there. Stop turning your phone off,” Brad told him.
“Meeting’s postponed, request squashed really because I’m overriding it,” Luke said to the room as he followed Brad out. He jumped into the car with the man and asked again. “What happened?”
“She called me saying she thought she was going into premature labor. They’re giving her medication to stop it, but she’s terrified more than I’ve ever seen from her.”
Luke rushed through the hospital with Arielle showing him the way. “How is she?”
“The contractions have stopped but her pressure’s still elevated despite her resting,” she answered as they rode the rest of the way up in the elevator.
“You brought her up in this?” he asked.
“Yeah…why?”
“She’s claustrophobic, elevators are the worst for her,” he said lowering his voice as they entered the room. Dani looked pale even against the white of the sheets and he worried they’d lose everything they had if something went wrong.
