“Dani…ah baby,” he whispered kissing her forehead.
She turned her head towards him, and her lashes fluttered in response.
“Shh…it’s okay baby…you’re all going to be just fine,” he said gently taking her hand in his.
A monitor beeped and he looked up in question at the nurse as Miranda came in.
“Luke, she’s okay,” Miranda stated, turning the volume on the machine down. “We’re monitoring the babies’ heart rates and they’re doing fine.”
“Her pressure just dropped ten points,” Arielle said checking the chart.
“Seems we know what the magic cure for Dani is,” Miranda replied with a smile his way. “Her pressure’s getting much better, let her rest though. I know you’re probably anxious too, but she needs to take it easy. If the contractions would start again, we’ll know immediately. She’s in good hands.”
Luke nodded his thanks and kissed her hand as they left the room. He saw Brad standing guard outside and said a silent thank you that he’d been there this time.
“Luke,” she sighed mostly in her sleep.
“I’m right here baby. You and the girls are going to be just fine. I’ll make sure nothing happens to any of you,” he promised determined to keep it and her.
