“Name one of our daughters Dean? No Luke, I don’t want them getting teased because of their names.”
“What about Dena or Deanna?” he suggested.
“Dena hmm…what about Dena and Gina?” she countered with a smile at the idea.
“Gina?” he said letting the name roll off him tongue. “Where’d you come up with that one?”
“It was my mom’s name, Gina Grace after my mom and your grandma?”
“What about our other little one?”
“Dena…Joan,” she asked.
“Dena Joan and Gina Grace…DJ and GG. I think they’ll be perfect,” he answered before kissing her worry away for the night.
The next couple weeks slipped by without any sign of Sam asking about Dean and she let herself relax and enjoy the quickly expanding belly she was getting. Luke insisted on going to all of her appointments with her and she loved him for it. She was much more comfortable staying home than going out which was why she invited Sam over to go through the company’s needs instead of going into the office.
“Well, look at you,” Sam said giving her a hug when he arrived. “You seem to have sprouted.”
“I know and I love it,” she replied showing him into the study. They worked for a bit, and she liked what he was doing. They headed into the kitchen and Dani poured them some tea when they were finished. She saw the question in his eyes and wondered what he’d heard.
“What?” she asked when he continued to watch her.
“Luke filled me in about a few things from your past; my question is why does he think Dean’s your grandfather?”
The glass slid through her hand and hit the counter, splashing liquid over the edge. “What?”
“He said you missed your grandfather and were thinking of naming the baby after him or a version of Dean if it was a girl.”
“I said it was a long story and it is.”
“Really? Because here’s what I’m thinking Dani, I think that Dean and Mona ran off and you’ve been covering for where they went.”
“How do you know about Mona?” she asked with panic.
“Do you really think I don’t know? Felix told me all about it when he looked me up. See with Luke and the hulk standing guard he couldn’t get to you, but your old friend could.”
“Sam? Oh my god, you’re working for him?”
“He pays better than Luke does; where’s Dean and Mona, Dani?”
“I don’t know, get out Sam,” she said edging towards the back door.
“Oh no you don’t,” Sam stated cutting off her escape route. “Tell me where they are, and you and baby stay safe. Don’t and well, you might be far enough along for the baby to survive.”
“Don’t do this Sam, please—how much is Felix offering you?” she asked trying to figure a way out of this as he backed her into a corner.
“Half a mil for the location.”
“I’ll make it two million for you to walk away right now, wired instantly where you want, and once you’re gone, another two.”
“Ah but then there’s the issue of Felix coming after me.”
“You can disappear anywhere in the world. New identity, new life, please Sam…”
“I go to the airport and Felix will have me picked up in an instant.”
“I can get you a new identity that’ll get you out of here. You’ll never have to work again. Sam, I’m offering you eight times what he is to just disappear.”
