“It was a comedy of errors Luke. So please stop hovering. I’m going to take a bath and you need to go downstairs and relax. I’m fine; we’ll deal with everything else tomorrow.”
“Okay,” he finally agreed kissing her lips. “Call me if you need anything. A hand out of the tub. Someone to wash your back…or other regions.”
“Stop it,” she said with a smile as his hands travelled up her back then towards her breasts.
“There’s my Dani,” he stated giving her another kiss before leaving.
She let out another sigh as she slid into the tub and as if on cue her phone rang. “Hey Dean…”
“Hey there pretty girl, want to explain this latest headline? Miscarriage Ruins Marriage.”
“You forgot the question mark. It’s fine, seems Ty let it slip that I’d been dealing with something and the person he was talking to figured it out. They’re just trying to sensationalize it.”
“Okay, then how about you explain the one showing Luke punching you. Dani, if he’s…”
“He’s not Dean, I promise. Yes, he hit me, totally by accident though. He and Ty were arguing, and I tried to stop it. I guess I misjudged how mad he was at Ty and didn’t see it happening.”
“You’re okay though?”
“Completely fine, Luke brought me home, held me until I fell asleep after this horrible day, and then called the doctor. I’m right as rain, except for a slight headache. How’s Mona?”
“She’s good; Dani are you sure you’re okay? Talking about me and Mona and the baby?”
“I’m thrilled for you Dean. I just wish I could be there with you.”
“I do too Dan-Dan. I always joked about moving half-way around the world from you but now…it’s been too long Sis.”
“I know but we can’t change that right now. It’s not safe.”
“Are Felix and the others still watching you?”
“I don’t know, no one’s shown up and tried to…”
“Beat our location out of you again? Yeah, I figured that one out Dani. You know, we’ve been talking about coming back.”
“No, Dean, if you do…”
“What Dani?”
“You’ll jeopardize all of our lives. You and Mona will constantly be looking over your shoulders not to mention worrying even more about the kids and then there’s Luke…”
“I’ll swear you didn’t know about the money Dani, and I’ll find a way to pay back whatever we’ve used. I’ve got over five still.”
“I’ve already replaced four of it, Dean.”
“How?”
“I used part of my, allowance if you will, to buy stocks and I’m always listening at the stupid parties we go to. I can find out the best times to legally sell to maximize my profits.”
“Wow, so if I send you the other four, we should be covered and then if we decide to come back…”
“What if something happens and you need to move again? You won’t be able to sell fast enough to get the money out of it. Just hold onto it for now, I’m going to reinvest what I still have, and I’ll find a way to replace it all.”
“Dani, you’re not hiding something are you?”
“What would I hide—from you that is? Come on Dean, you know me better than anyone does. Do I honestly sound like there’s something you don’t know?” she asked, holding her breath for his answer.
“No, alright, take care honey, and remember…”
