I kiss her forehead and murmur against her skin, “It’s okay if you don’t believe us yet. One day you will, and it will be the happiest day of my life.” She sighs and wraps her arms around my middle. I confess, “I was missing you so much. I was counting down the time until I could see you tonight. I’m glad you came to see me.”
She props her head on my chest, her blue eyes sparkling now. “I was missing you too and I wanted to come down here and see what all the fuss was about.”
I wiggle my eyebrows at her and grin. “Wanna go make out in the stacks?”
Ariel throws her head back and laughs before nodding, her cheeks pinking at my suggestion. I don’t let her rethink her agreement. Instead, I lace our fingers together and pull her through the library to a corner I know no one ever goes to. When we’re hidden away, I grip her hips and pull her against me.
“This is naughty,” she whispers as her hands land on my shoulders.
“You like it,” I challenge. “Now, kiss me, little mermaid.”
When she tips up on her tiptoes and presses her lips to mine, I don’t think anything can be better than this moment. I’ve felt that way about every single moment I’ve spent with our woman. I hate the doubts she has, but all we need is a little time and we’ll banish those.
They have no space in our relationship and our future.
We just need a little bit of time.
