His arm lashed out faster than a snake striking. I yelped as he grabbed me around the waist and yanked me to him, plastering my front to his and kissing me. His kiss was so full of emotion, the backs of my eyes began to burn.

When he finally pulled back, resting his forehead against mine, we both chugged air like we’d run a marathon at a dead sprint. “We’re really doing this?”

“We are,” I assured him, my heart swelling so damn big it was a wonder there was any room left in my chest. I bit down on my bottom lip as I summoned up the courage to say what came next. “And I might have found a solution to your whole apartment problem.”

Nate smiled against my lips, and I could have sworn I tasted it. It tasted like sunshine on a hot summer day, like sugar and chocolate and everything good. “You have, have you?”

“Mm-hmm. You see, my house is awfully big for only one person. Plus, it would make life so much easier when it came to teaching Evan to garden.”

“All good points.”

“Then of course, there’s the view from our bedroom.”

He squeezed me tight and rained kisses across my face. “Sold,” he declared triumphantly. “We’ll move in this weekend.”

My eyes went wide. “What about your lease?”

He harrumphed and waved that off like it was nothing. “Please. I’m a lawyer, moonbeam. I can talk my way out of it.”

“Then I guess you guys are moving in this weekend.”

“Guess we are,” he said softly, dragging the tip of his nose along the side of mine. “And Luna?”

“Hmm?”

“I meant what I said. I’m going to make you happier than you’ve ever been.”

Oh, I had no doubt about that.
