Once he stopped by the porch, she hesitated in getting out.

“Would you like a cup of coffee before heading home? Or do you need to get home to your wife?”For God’s sake, Rory! Could you be more blatant?

“I’m not married, but I need to go. Maybe some other time,” he said.

“Sure.” She opened the door, stepped out, and smiled. “Thanks for your help.”

“I haven’t done anything yet,” he said.

“No, but I have a feeling you’ll do all you can. This is not a good way to start the weekend. I’ll talk to you soon. Goodnight.” She closed the door, climbed the steps, and entered the house.

She leaned back against the kitchen door and shook her head.

“Do you need to get home to your wife? Seriously, Rory?” she muttered.

She pushed off from the door and headed for the bathroom. Maybe a cold shower was in order.
