“Your friends are crazy,” I say, loud enough so they can all hear.
“I did warn you,” he says with a smirk before brushing his lips against my cheek. “I’m sorry,” he whispers in my ear. “I’ll make it up to you later.”
“It’s really okay. I’m looking forward to getting to know them all better.”
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” he says, capturing my lips in a toe-curling kiss that makes everyone around us immediately stop talking in favour of cheering. “You’d better go before she drags you out.” When I look over, I find Stella standing with her hands on her hips and a soft smile playing on her face.
The second I step away, the boys descend on Toby, teasing him about having a girl before they all fall down on the sofa as if they’re here to stay.
“Let’s go, we’ve got facials and massages with our names on them,” Stella announces.
“And you’re sure I can’t stay here and play Xbox with the guys?” Emmie asks.
“Nope. Suck it up, Mrs. Cirillo. We’re having a girls’ afternoon and welcoming Jodie to the pack.”
“Mrs. Cirillo?” I can’t help but ask.
“Grab your stuff, we’ll explain everything and give you all the gossip I’m sure Toby failed to.”
I shake my head at the three of them and quickly rush down to Toby’s room to pull on yesterday’s clothes and grab my bag.
This might be a little spur of the moment, and I might have been longing for a day with Toby, but I can’t deny the butterflies that are fluttering around in my belly at the prospect of diving deeper into his world and being accepted amongst his group of friends.
