“Yeah, but it’s on the edge. It’s not in the Valley or anything.”

“Good. I might be desperate, but I’m not sure I could deal with that.”

“I love you too much to do that to you, Jo,” she jokes.

“I know. Thank you. I’ll take whatever I can get right now, so not even the Valley is really out of the question.”

“You’ll figure it out. You always do.”

“Who needs uni anyway, right?”

“Not me,” she jokes. “I’m sure you can find something way better, but I can always use a hand. Things are really picking up for me. I was expecting it to have died down after being away, but the orders started trickling in almost as soon as I announced I was back.”

“That’s so awesome, Sara. If I can do anything to help, you know I will.”

“You wanna stay on the line until you get home?” she asks, knowing me better than I’m sure I know myself.

“Yeah, that would be nice.”

“You got it.”

“So, tell me something, anything.”

She starts chatting about her business, joy for what she’s achieved already with her art prints and online store clear in her voice, and I lose myself to her excitement as she talks about the orders she’s had and the customers she’s met. It’s too easy to push everything aside and just listen to her voice as I make my way home.

I just keep reminding myself that everything is going to get better because, at this point, not much else can go wrong.
