“Jesus. I’m going to pee. Try to keep it in your pants while I’m gone, yeah?” I say to Nico with a smirk.
“I can’t keep those kinds of promises, Jojo.” He winks before I turn away from them all and rush toward the bathroom.
The second I close the door behind me, I suck in a deep breath and try to get my head on straight.
I have no idea what I expected this morning. I didn’t allow myself to think about it as I lost myself in Toby. But I’m pretty sure that if I had, I wouldn’t have imagined us all sitting around, playing house.
Shedding the blanket, I pee before finding my toothbrush in Bri’s cupboard and set about freshening up.
A knock on the door startles me, but I quickly relax when it’s followed up with a feminine, “It’s just me.”
She lets herself in, not even batting an eyelid that I’m standing here completely naked.
“Brought you Toby’s jumper to wear,” she says with a smile.
It didn’t escape my attention when I first looked at her that she’s happily walking around in Nico’s shirt.
“Thanks,” I mutter, taking it from her and slipping it over my head.
It might have been soaked through last night, but when I breathe in, I realise quickly that it still smells like him. I just about manage to contain my sigh of contentment.
“So…” Bri starts, and I can’t hold in the smile that appears on my lips.
“I really like him,” I confess, my heart fluttering in my chest.
“I know, I can see it every time you look at him. I’m pretty sure he’s feeling the same, too.”
“Yeah?” I ask, hating that I sound vulnerable, but I can’t help it. I need her to confirm that what I’m feeling isn’t crazy. I mean, it is totally crazy but… I sigh.
“Yeah. His eyes go all soft and mushy when he looks at you. It’s sweet as fuck.”
As much as I want to hear more, I turn the conversation onto her in an attempt to keep my heart in line.
“And what about you and Nico? You look cosy this morning.”
“Ugh.” She rolls her eyes and waves her hand at me. “He refused to leave.”
I rear back a little. “You tried to make him?”
“Of course I did. I don’t do… that.” She points at what’s happening on the other side of the door.
“Aw, that’s cute. He wanted to spend more time with you.”
“No he didn’t. He told me he wasn’t leaving without Toby, and Toby refused to leave because he promised you breakfast. There’s only one love story happening here, Jojo, and it’s not mine.”
My lips part to argue, but she sees it coming and places her hands on her hips.
“Don’t even think about it,” she spits. “I don’t want nor need a man for any other reason than his cock… well, maybe his tongue. So stop getting these crazy thoughts about double dating and all that shit. Not happening.”
I stick my tongue out at her. “Spoilsport.”
“Whatever. Get your backside back out there and make that boy sitting at my counter happy. He looks like a sad little puppy yearning after you.”
“Shut up, he does not.”
She raises a brow at me.
“And let him take you out for breakfast so that Nico leaves my fucking flat.”
