“But you like it. Don’t you, Demon?” I press closer, our bodies aligning, and a whimper rips past her red lips. “That first night, it was my darkness that drew you to me. You saw it in me, remember? And you trusted me in spite of it.”

“T-Toby, what are you—“

I lower my hand, my fingers wrapping around her throat and pinning her against the wall, cutting off her question.

Her breaths race past her lips, fanning over my face which is only an inch from hers as I tower over her, even in her heels. Her pulse thunders almost violently beneath my fingers. Questions swirl in her dark chocolate eyes as she stares up at me. There’s a part of her who’s looking at me like I’m the guy she’s come to know, to trust. But there’s this other part that is looking at a stranger.

“Ask me,” I demand.

“W-what?”

“Those questions spinning around in your dirty little mind. Ask them. I’ll answer you honestly. I promise.”

She flinches as if that promise held as much weight as some of my darkest secrets.

“H-have you… have you… killed people?” she whispers.

“Yes.”

All the air rushes from her lungs, and I take the opportunity to really make sure she understands.

“Most of the time, they’re really bad men.”

“M-most of the—“

“But the innocent can often find themselves in the middle of shit they’re not even aware is happening around them.” Just like you, my sweet and innocent little toy. My stomach clenches, knowing just how bad this is going to get for her but still refusing to stop.

“Toby, you can’t—”

“It’s life, Jodie. We’re involved in some dangerous shit, get sent into the middle of fucking war zones. It’s just the way it is.”

She shakes her head, unable to process what I’m telling her.

“Go on,” I prompt, knowing that she has at least a few more burning questions for me.

“Do you enjoy it?”

One side of my mouth pulls up in a grin, and my fingers twitch against her throat. “Demon,” I breathe, leaning closer and brushing my nose against hers. “I fucking love it. And do you know something else?” She shakes her head again. “I think you do too.”

“Toby,” she squeals when I tuck my hand under her skirt and cup her pussy through the fabric of her underwear.

“You’re soaked, Demon. You know why, don’t you?” I ask, rubbing her clit, her juices coating my fingers even with the barrier between us.

“Oh God,” she moans, her head falling back. “You fucking love knowing I’m a real-life bad boy. That I’m not just playing the game to pick up women, but that I am that person. I’m a man who will literally protect those I love with my own life, and I make those who hurt them wish they were never born. And that turns you on, doesn’t it, Jodie,” I growl, grazing my lips along her jaw until I nip at her ear.

“I’m sorry for not telling you everything sooner, but I know you understand. You’re a good person, Jodie, and you want to see the good in others too. So I gave you the good side of me for fear you’d run if you discovered the bad too soon.”

She whimpers as I continue rubbing her, her hips rolling in time with me to get more.

“Forgive me,” I beg.

“Toby,” she groans. “You’re not playing fair.”

“All’s fair in love and war, baby. I might be bad, but I can also be so fucking good.”

My chest heaves as desire floods every inch of my body. I’ve never wanted to claim anyone like I do with Jodie. My need for her is like this other beast living inside me that never settles unless I’m owning her, listening to her crying out my name and feeling the biting pain of her nails digging into my shoulders.

She swallows harshly against my tight hold, her entire body trembling with her need for release.
