“Seb,” I cry, launching myself from the stairs.

Thank fuck he’s paying attention, because he manages to catch me midair without stumbling back too far.

“Fuck, baby,” he grunts as I wrap my arms around him, holding him as tight as physically possible.

“I was so scared you didn’t get out.”

“Shh,” he soothes in my ear, holding me equally as tight as he begins to climb the stairs.

Voices follow us, but I don’t lift my face from the crook of Seb’s neck to see who’s with him. I’m just too fucking relieved that he’s here and in one piece.

He lowers us to the couch once we’re upstairs and wraps his hands around my upper arms, dragging me back from his body.

Reluctantly, I let go, but my heart drops into my throat when I get a proper look at him.

“Holy shit,” I gasp, my eyes flicking over all the blood covering him. “Fuck, are you—”

“It’s not mine, baby. It’s okay. I’m okay.”

My eyes fill with water, the burn behind them too much to deny, and a tear falls free.

His entire face softens at my reaction, and he reaches up with one dirty hand and wipes the tear away, probably smearing my cheek with whoever’s blood that is.

“Uh… as heartwarming as this is,” Alex starts, making me turn around to look at who arrived with Seb, “is anyone gonna tell us what happened to Theo’s car?”

Just like Seb, both Alex and Nico are covered in blood, and the places that aren’t covered are black from the fire.

Emmie groans, throwing herself down on the couch. “I had a teeny accident on the way here.”

“Teeny?” Nico scoffs.

“What did you do?” I ask again. I knew she was hiding something.

She visibly winces. “I got a little friendly with a wall.”

“A little friendly?” Nico asks, his brows damn near hitting his hairline.

“Shit was intense. I wasn’t concentrating.”

“No shit,” Seb rumbles. “He’s going to fucking slaughter you when he sees it. You’d better be ready to get your tits out to distract him or something.”

The guys snort a laugh at his comment while I lightly slap him on the shoulder.

“I’m not… ew, no. I should probably just leave before he—”

“Hell no, you’re not running away from this,” Alex states, folding his arms across his chest and taking a step forward as if he’s getting ready to physically keep her inside the apartment.

“Fine. But only because I want to see if he’s alive.”

“And you pretend not to care,” I mutter, earning me a death glare.

“He’s alive,” Seb says confidently. “We left him and Daemon torturing the fucks who started all that.”

“You caught them?” I ask, shocked.

“Of course we did. What do you take us for?” he asks with a dramatic eye roll.

“Where are they?” I ask, curious about their torture chamber.
